Newbie: CA events
Hello everyone. I'm relatively new to CPAP therapy but have been following quite a few threads on this forum - the feedback is truly remarkable and has helped me in understanding things much better. So thank you all Smile

Since I started therapy, I have fine tuned the settings and am now experiencing 1.0 - 2.0 events per night. The AHI from my sleep study was 38.7, so it seems that there has been a substantial improvement.

My question is mainly related to CA events as I'm still getting a few of these. I'm attaching screenshots from last night, but the pattern of most CA events on other days is similar to these. I'm also attaching a screenshot of my current settings.

Would these be considered as true CA events, or are they most likely arousal related?

Thanks again.

Alan

I would suggest the following alterations in your settings to improve your treatment:
Response= Standard
Pressure minium= 7 cm
Pressure maximum=  10 cm

Your CA events look real, but can disappear with time.

Real quickly let me explain a central vs obstructive apnea. Obstructive (O and H events) is when Tongue or something else blocks your Airway.  A central is you have no obstruction but just don't breathe or hold your breath. Many times they are from holding your breath while turning over, pulling up a blanket, adjusting a pillow.  These all happen and are no problem. Some people just don't breath and a machine has to help them.

Your centrals are not a concern.  You just do not have enough to make it a problem.  You should monitor your apnea and if centrals become more of a problem we should look into it. But for now it is not a big deal.

OK, thank you. Will try with these settings.

Many thanks for the explanation. Much clearer now.
