F&P Vitera “pops” when on my back
Hey All, I started using a Vitera recently. I like it, it’s working well. One thing I’ve noticed though is that when I’m on my back and take deep breaths and exhale there’s a “popping”, almost like a valve closing. It wakes me up. I’m not sure how to explain it but hopefully others have noticed this and can point me in the right direction. This is with a resmed 10 in apap mode, 5-13 pressure. Never had this with nasal pillow masks…thanks for any ideas.

RE: F&P Vitera “pops” when on my back
I have a Vitera. There is actually a valve. Its on the inhalation area, and it opens when you inhale, and then closes when you exhale, I guess to keep the pressure up on exhalation rather than your breath going back into the tube.
I have never really noticed any sound from it, but upon reading your post, just put my mask on to pay attention to it. If I do take deep breathes in and out, then I suppose I can hear a little click. I'm not sure what you can do about that though assuming its the valve click you are hearing. Hopefully may just get used to it?! As I mentioned, i havent really noticed it. Or, maybe you have a defective valve that is making too much noise ? are you able to ask for a replacement mask?

Thanks - ya I’m thinking that’s the culprit. It’s hard to describe, it’s more than a click, it’s like a valve that instantaneously stops airflow (I think). I’m usually half asleep when I notice it and then I try to reproduce it and I can’t. I was just hoping someone else would recognize it and tell me what was going on. If I can find a way to reproduce it I’ll post back. Will also call mask supplier to see if I can get a different mask…

RE: F&P Vitera “pops” when on my back
I just got an F&P Vitera and I like how comfortable it is, but it seems to be very noisy. In addition to the little click described above, there is a lot of air noise. My ResMed AirTouch F20 is nearly silent, but I really notice the air noise with the Vitera on both my AirSense 10 and AirMini machines. Is anyone else bothered by the noise or is it just me? Thanks!

I don't notice the popping but I sleep on my side and I probably would not hear much without my hearing aids anyway. But it could be a loud valve. If you want to try a different elbo with a different valve, they are available on Amazon.
