Adapter Plugs for International Travel

Hi all,
I haven’t traveled internationally from the US to UK, France, or Belgium with my CPAP for a few years,  and know things have changed. I’m taking my new ResMed A-11 on its maiden voyage, so I purchased new adapters. With these new plugs, I can simultaneously charge multiple devices on one adapter. Has anyone had experience charging several devices while asleep and running their CPAP? Or is it safer to run the CPAP by itself on a separate adapter? Thank you.

Hello TiredOne789,

Your adapter is only adapting to the plug form, not the voltage. So any machine expecting 120 volts US will be unpleasantly surprised by the 240 volts in Europe.

The Airsense 11 has a universal power supply (please double check), so should not be a problem. Please check everything you want to plug into the grid for voltage range. 

As for plugging in multiple plugs into one adapter, no problem. It works just like an extension cord with multiple sockets. There are no electronics inside your adapter.

Also, nearly every country in Europe uses a different style of sockets and plugs. Some are interchangeable, some are not. You'll need to check for every country you will visit.

Hello Billyaustin,
I've traveled internationally with the Resmed 10. All you need is an adapter—type G for England and type C for Germany. Resmed has CPAP travel tips and an FAA compliance letter to take with you. (link below) When packing up your CPAP, be sure to pull your adapter out of the socket and take it with you to your next destination. The sockets are deep and it can be easy to leave your adapter behind. Happy Travels.

I use a Zendure Passport III when travelling internationally as it can adapt to practically every plug type and includes 4 USB-C ports and one USB-A port. On a recent trip to Europe I used it with my AirMini and had no issues with it while also charging several devices. As HappySailor mentioned, I wouldn't be worried about the plug adapter itself as long as it will fit the outlet as your CPAP has a universal power supply and a company would need to go out of their way to mess up something as simple as a plug adapter.

I just took my ResMed AirSense 11 to Spain for 2 weeks with that same adapter. I had the CPAP and my iPad, iPhone and a spare phone battery charging every night with no issues. I just wish the adapter folded down vs the plugs sticking out - that uses a bit more room than a 'flat' adapter. No problems with use, though.
