Advice for first time CPAP traveller - sharing a room with people.
Hi everyone,
I'll be travelling overseas with my CPAP machine for the first time. I've just got a couple questions that I was hoping someone could give me some advice.
- I'll be sharing a room (but not a bed) with someone. I find it quite uncomfortable sharing a room with someone in general, let alone using the machine. The person I'm sharing with says she's happy to wear earbuds so hopefully will be fine and will just be an adjustment for me.
- I use a hook on my bed to stop the tubing from drooping down and 'pulling down' on the mask. It's attached to my bed so I can't bring it with me, I'm not sure if anyone has any advice on something similar I could use to stop the drooping down of the big cpap tube.
- Has anyone had experiencing flying in and out of Australia with the CPAP machine. I've messaged the airline and qantas to get the dangerous goods approval to bring it on as a carryon, just not sure if I'm missing anything.
Thank you!

The machine is very quite and you will not have any problems sharing a room. You may have a problem finding an electrical outlet by the bed. I have taken an extension cord (small and light) with me when I travel.

@Hopingforachange
I second the small extension cord while travelling, like Stacey says sometimes the outlets aren't in the best places.
For the hose, I wedge a pillow up against the headboard and tuck the tube behind it, but I use the Resmed Airfit line that attaches with a swivel at the top of the head. May not work so well for those that attach at the face.

My machine is completely silent. I can't imagine that it would bother anyone in the same room.
I travel in and out of Canada on a regular basis and have never had to get any kind of approval...dangerous goods or otherwise. Don't know if Qantas or Australia has different rules. I just pack it in its travel case and carry it on with me. I've always had a backpack and another carry-on bag. CPAP machine doesn't count as a carry-on here.

Extension cord is a must!
Hook: have you tried 3M Command strips/hooks? I have used those in hotels without any problems.

Command hooks work great; but, I keep leaving them at the hotel.
