RE: AirFit F20 homemade Mask Liner
As promised, here is the updated photo on how I actually have the "sock" positioned on mask for sleeping. Just enough silicon on the top part to prevent it from blowing in my eyes. It works, try it. No more bbrrrppp sounds and no more shutting off pressure to reseal or adjust. Just set and go.

Quick update.
This is working much, much better than I had original hoped for or thought it would. I have had zero incidents of the dreaded bbrrrppppp face farts sounds waking me up in the middle of the night. I have had zero leaks at all come to think of it. My adjustment straps are now kept at a much more comfortable tension, as I no longer need to constantly keep adjusting it to keep up with leaks or the dreaded bbbrrrpppp. The sock also feels more comfortable against the skin than the silicon. I no longer need to use CPAP wipes to clean the mask, just my normal once a week baby shampoo bath for the mask and hose. One pair of socks has made 6 mask liners. I rotate them and wash them in a lingerie bag with regular laundry. So, I guess I would highly recommend this easy to do mod to those with the F20 touch or any other masks that may be able to run this mod.

This sounds like a game changer! Thanks for sharing!!

Very nice idea, I've tried it immediately. No f@rting mask any more, but I noticed the leak rate increases to 30 or more. I can't detect a leak anyway, but my ResMed shows the red frownie.

I found it worked well if the sides and bottom are covered and the top by the nose, not so much. The bridge of the nose is the only area that silicon is touching. I was able to up pressure by 1.4 and reduce strap tension. You just need to adjust to you find the sweet spot. Much better than the bbrrrppp all night.

Thanks for your fast response. I covered the mask as in the pictures, bit I presume the sock is too thick: it's made of wool ... Will try a thinner one.

The sock I used is a thin sock typical of what you would wear with a suit or business clothes, thinner that even a cotton sport sock style.

Wow! I am really impressed!
When I tried this mask I was able to sleep for about 3-4 hours. I kept hearing mask frts. The mask was really comfortable. I'll see if I can get a loaner mask and give it a try again. I'm using a ResMed N20 and a pad under my chin to keep my mouth shut. I just got an F20 AirTouch and wonder if anyone has tried the mask liner idea on the AirTouch.

I too use the Airtouch version of this mask. I just changed out a new foam cushion last night after using the last one for probably 4-6 months (lost count). This idea sounds awesome as it will keep the oils off the foam which means I won't have to wash it, hopefully making it last longer!
(yes, I know I'm "supposed" to change it monthly, but that seems like overkill and just a CYA policy from resmed to also help them make more money) |
