Aircurve 10 ASV vs Dreamstation ASV
#11
RE: Aircurve 10 ASV vs Dreamstation ASV
Good morning All.
I thought I would give some differences between the Dreamstation ASV and the Aircurve ASV.
Dreamstation
After 6 months use, I never got used to the burst of air I would get as I was falling to sleep. The burst was because of CAs. Sometimes 3 or 4 wakeups before going out from this burst[or maybe I should call it a puff of higher preasure air.
I woke up more often but didn't get up more often.
An AHI of 8 consisted of 6-8 CAs, 6-8 OAs and 40-60 Hs.
I used flex 1 because I felt the more the , the more CAs I got. Never tried back up rate.
Humidity level 3
Machine settings were 10.5-15-5-10 with 23 max.
Average sleep around 7 hours a night.

Aircurve ASV
After 2 weeks use I have Never felt the machine correct a CA with a puff of air. I know it does because I tested by holding my breath.
I think breathing is more normal feeling.
I don't wake up at all except to get up.
Sense starting I have had no OBs or CAs. Strange but that's what the data shows.
humidity level 3
Same machine settings
Maybe less sleep per night, about 6.75
I feel everyone should take control of there therapy by educating themselves, as I think most people on this forum do.
I hope Everyone has a Blessed day. Wink

thanks for sharing the differences you've experienced between the two machines. good info that's good to know. the people and the experiences we all bring for the rest of us to learn from (and the relative civility with which we do so) is what makes this forum such a fantastic resource. it's really great to read about how things are working out for you.

Hi Mark,

Thanks for the contrast and comparison of the 2 ASV brands you've used. If by chance you ever do get that high pressure puff, you can "teach" the ASV to back off via a patented (by someone other than me) phrase/action called Blow Back. Take that literally, blow back rather forcefully through the mask if/when high pressure puffs show up.

Anyway, hope the ResMed ASV machine treats you to great AHI numbers and a well rested night consistently.

RE: Aircurve 10 ASV vs Dreamstation ASV
Thank you Dave
I’ve noticed that my Aircurve ASV isn’t flagging OBs or CAs at all. I always had them with my dreamstation. I have UAs and Hs. Does that suggest that possible CAs and OBs are being recorded as  UAs? Or is the machine eliminating them?
On another note, I was telling my DME of my success with the Aircurve ASV,and he started bad mouthing Resmeds as Kaiser in Oregon doesn’t use them. He even suggested I could Die.
Well I sent my Dr. an email and told him I guess I would be on my own from here on as I could get supplies just as cheap on line.
We wil see!

I'll defer to the pros on the question of flagging info. I'm still a noob on reading my own info. I'd probably get better at it if I studied new, ongoing info, but a broken SD card reader prevents me from doing so until I get a new reader.

On the ResMed will make you die thing: I've had my ResMed 10 ASV for over a year, and unless I'm mistaken, it hasn't killed me.

Mark, the resmed asv is purported to resolve ca and periodic breathing (not sure what OB is) so successfully it calls all apnea unclassified, which are assumed to be obstructive. pretty unbelievable what scare tactics the medical establishment tells us. don't know if it's ignorance, power or both. one more way to keep us dependent on them. ask them for an authoritative source of their info.

Thank you
Looking at sleeping head the UAs do resemble OBs.
I thought I had a Great DME until yesterday. He pushes Phillips for sure. He also thinks he is sooo smart. I didn’t even argue, just canceled my appointment.

It's pretty common not to see OA or CA on the Aircurve 10 ASV, but UA seems fairly common. We usually assume they are obstructive and there is usually an increase in EPAP pressure in response to UA events.
