Airmini mask choice

Airmini mask choice
Hi, everyone,

I've been using CPAP since January 2023.  I will have other questions because my "sleep specialist" has never made any adjustments to my CPAP settings.  He just left it at  4 through 20 and my events are all over the place 1.1 to 3.9.  Every night is different.  I have very mild apnea tested at 6.9 in my in-lab sleep study.  However, I have "chainsaw like snoring" and extreme daytime fatigue.  I am taking medication to try to help with that.

I will get to downloading OSCAR and uploading my data but that's not my question today.

I travel quite a bit and got tired of carrying the Airsense 11 so I bought an Airmini.  I'm trying to figure out what mask to use with it.  I currently use the F&P Brevida and really like it.  It doesn't irritate my nose at all, it's very small, and it's almost completely silent.  In the past I've used full face masks including the Airtouch F20 and the Airfit 30i.  The 30i was my very first mask and I absolutely hated it.  I'm a side sleeper and every time I turned, the mask would shift and I would get huge leaks.  My doc thought I needed full face mask because I was believed to be a mouth breather but I'm actually not.  I make all that noise with my mouth closed.

I believe the humidification with my Airsense is very beneficial if not absolutely required.  I know I can use an adapter and my Brevida but without humidification.  I'm trying to figure out what mask to choose for the Airmini.  I've heard the P10 can be very uncomfortable but this is the only nasal pillow mask available with the humidification system the Airmini uses.

Does anyone have a recommendation for a compatible Airmini mask or should I just live without the humidification and continue to use the Brevida?   If anyone has any advice, I'd appreciate it.

Welcome to the forum!

I'll follow your post because the Airmini intrigues me.

My story isn't important. However, maybe it will help you.
I'm on a mask search. I've been adapting to a F&P Evora Full full face mask. I'm claustrophobic, and I can use this mask. It's really well made.

I'm sure that someone with more experience will kick in and provide the information that you need.

You know that the Airmini Doesn't support an SD card !!
You can't down load information to OSCAR from it ..
OSCAR can be a huge benefit to optimize Your therapy and reduce
Your event numbers ..
There are people willing to help You optimize Your therapy on this forum ..
Good Luck .. Steve

RE: Airmini mask choice
Good morning!

Thanks for your replies!

I totally forgot I had posted here.  Yes, I know the mini doesn't have an SD card.  I'm just intending on using it for travel.  I have my Airsense 11 at home I will continue to use as my primary.  I travel internationally and carrying the 11 the last few times was a lot with all the other stuff I need.

I'm just trying to figure out if the humidification system is worth buying a whole new mask just for the Mini (which I may not like) or can I get away with no humidification for the times I'll be using it with my regular mask.

I'm not sure about these tablet things the Airmini uses instead of water.

I will post my OSCAR stuff when I get back from my Thanksgiving vacation.

Masks and humidification are such individual choices .. I don't think anyone can answer these questions ..
People can voice opinions of what has worked for them .. Every one is different and the final choice is Yours !!

Turn the humidifier off on Your AS 11 empty the water tank and try it one night .. That could answer one of
Your above questions .. It may answer both ..

Good Luck !! Steve

I'm in the same boat as you OP. I love the brevida and just bought an airmini for same reasons. I have used the P10 in the past and could live with it but the brevida is better. I'm trying to look at mods for the hoses if need be to get the inline humidifier. I've read that the HME for the Z2 can be used on standard hose so I would need a hose adapter for the airmini port to connect an unheated cord and put the HME at the end by the mask. Apprently a bit annoying for nose pillow users but I'm going to try it. I'll report back in a week or so when the parts come in.
