Bleep Eclipse + Mouth taped = Leaks ?

Bleep Eclipse + Mouth taped = Leaks ?
First night using Bleep Eclipse with fully-taped mouth. I had no detectable leaks (nose or mouth) for the entire night (5.3 hours).  Can anyone suggest why the OSCAR Leak Rate is so pervasive and high? Thanks

Your leak rate isn't high at all.   Respironics cpaps report Total Leaks, which include both the intentional leak rate for your mask at your pressure AND the excess leaks. In other words:   Total Leak = Intentional Leak + Excess Leak

When you repost a chart, leave the calendar and pie chart out. That will free up all the statistics on the left sidebar.

On a different note, if you would like help in optimizing your therapy data, start a new thread. It looks like your AHI is too high. We may be able to help get it lower.

What do you mean by no detectable leaks? You don't feel any air or it didn't wake you up? I am having leaks thru out but last night mostly the last 1.5 hrs. Everything seems secure in the am. I'm told above 24 is large leaks and I'd like to get rid of them being it is making me restless and waking up.

Those are mostly mouth leaks. Maybe just on expiration but we need a 3-minute view to verify that.

Gideon,
How do I setup/see a 3-minute view and how would that reveal that the effect occurs upon expiration? Thanks for your observation.

Kathy,
I meant that I did not detect/feel any escaping air either audibly nor feel any air movement. After my above experience I have started completely taping my mouth using "Leukoplast Cover-Roll stretch". This taping (plus going from a full-face to a nasal, N20 mask) have completely eliminated all leaks.

To Zoom
Place cursor over where you want to start
Click and hold the Left Mouse Button, then drag the mouse.
The tool tip will tell the time to be set.
or
click (and repeat) where you want to zoom

Right click and hold to scroll or use arrow keys,

The flow rate shows both inhale (above zero) and exhale (below zero)
The inhale "volume" or area should match the exhale. If exhale is less, then where did it go? It escaped the (mostly) closed system. Mostcommonly out the mouth.

Daiseki - A relatively new feature in OSCAR is to place your mouse pointer on any graph at the location you wish to zoom in on.  Hold the <Shift> key while clicking the left mouse button.  This will display the 3-minute zoom, with the selected feature 2 minutes into the zoom.  This allows you to see what was occurring prior to this anomaly.   To exit back out to normal view, press the <Escape> key.

Gideon,
Wow! You are REALLY on top of this.  I learned so much and all from the Flow Rate panel.  Actually, it is a bit difficult to compare the inhale (above line) area with the exhale (below line) area. But, I get the point.  I also learned that where/when OSCAR indicates Large Leak (LL) the Flow Rate panel is essentially worthless as the LL has obscured any true signal.  Thanks so, so much.  OSCAR has helped me both understand and resolve my CPAP problems. like Thanks Sleep-well

I'm so glad you found a brand of tape that you can use and works. I'm sensitive and using 3m paper tape for sensitive skin. I don't have it on completely tight but will try a little tighter tonight. I'm using a bleep mask, so no headgear, I can't tell it's on at all which again so sensitive I still couldn't get used to the minimal nasal pillows with the tube going to the top after 10 months of therapy
