[CPAP] Bad O2 days with APAP?
#11
RE: Bad O2 days with APAP?
Best O2 monitor I've found is the Sleepon Go2Sleep SE. SE is important because it comes with finger attachments, finger cot style. It measures all parameters in Hz rather than seconds. It samples at 50Hz which is around every .02 seconds. it's designed for sleep monitoring, and I find the ring too unstable for sleep or daytime use, but the finger tip attachments work great, super steady, seldom get an oddball reading. Unfortunately it doesn't sync with OSCAR, fortunately the graphs on a tablet (iOS or Android) are large enough and easy enough to line up, just clumsy using two devices. I can get mine synched within a few seconds by putting the thing on, it starts automatically then hitting the start button on the CPAP. The battery is only good for about 14 hours, rather than the three days they claim. No subscription, lots of parameters, heart rate, spO2, movement, sleep stages, sleep time, etc... and the device can hold seven days of data if you don't have time to download. Since I have PLMD I wear mine on a toe, have tested it on multiple fingers as a control.

See yeah, that's the thing. The whole idea of the ring sensor and not using the fingertip (which is full of capilaries) to take the measurements.

I've never seen another major oximeter manufacturer use a sensor like this. Did they somehow stumble into something that Nonin hadn't considered? Doubt it.

It seems to me that these ring type devices became popular after a certain AUS based CPAP YouTube channel started pimping them, and integrating them into his mobile apps/web platform.

Interesting that he's been teasing a machine specifically FOR that platform that's made by....wait for. Viatom Tech?  Huhsign

RE: Bad O2 days with APAP?
I've been using the Wellue (same company as Viatom I think) ring for about 18 months now. I find it is very consistent with events flagged on Oscar, i.e. I'm inclined to trust it, especially if/when there are downward trends over a few weeks. One thing I've noticed is that my average SPO2 usually drops 1% with even very moderate alcohol consumption and average heart rate rises a little too. This is entirely consistent with the dilation of blood vessels caused by alcohol. Might be worth checking whether there is a correlation in your case before returning the ring. Then again, you may have just been unlucky with a faulty ring.

RE: Bad O2 days with APAP?
I'll wait it out, I did clean the sensor with alcohol and now it seems better so might have been a bit dirty. Although I stil dipped to 92% while being awake in bed watching TV last night which seems low for being awake and I don't fully trust that reading. Before cleaning it the ring showing 91% when I had a Medisana O2 meter on my finger at the same time showing 97%, but didn't have one on last night to check. So I guess I'll see if cleaning helped somewhat over the next few days or I'll ask for a replacement if they even do that. Unless they'll refund me I'd get a new one but I doubt it since I'm using it for +3 months now. I'll try some more testing as well by comparing it with the medisana O2 meter when I can to see how inaccurate some readings are.
The only reason why I might trust some of the readings is that I have days I'm feeling more tired again and fall asleep on the couch for an hour. And had some mornings I felt off like before CPAP. If my O2 is worse that would explain that at least. But with comparing it to the medisana I also know it can be wrong so....

Anyone had relapses with tiredness after using CPAP after everything was going fine? I did stop sports for a week now to give my body some time to recover since I went running 3 days a week half an hour as well. My RHR was a lot higher again as well. So I'm half hoping I was training too intensively.
After CPAP (and starting sports again with some weight loss probably) my RHR dropped to mid/high 40's after a month or 2 and stayed like that for a month, now I'm at mid/high 50's again all of a sudden.

I'd go see a cardiologist for a checkup but I already know they'll say everything is normal anyway. Every time I mentioned my HR was so high before CPAP everyone said it was "normal".

I checked the two devices I had against 2 finger tip oximeters, one being a Nonin and got divergent numbers.

RE: Bad O2 days with APAP?
This is from last night. I put on the O2 ring to watch some TV in bed and be able to check it today. Not sure why it has no data after 5:30 AM though as it was fully charged. Not sure those drops look even realistic while being awake?

I feel like I had a lot of leaks after increasing the pressure but they seem better now, or is this still too much? Seems to be when the pressure increases so might be normal?

My max pressure is set to 11 but it also seems like I should increase it since 95% shows 10.51.
Anyone any explanation as to why this increased with increasing the pressure? When I had the 4-9 setting I had a 95% around 7 or 8. Is it normal this increases so much? I'd expected this to be around the same values since it's automatic, that's also what the person who I got the device from told me. That it wouldn't matter to increase pressure because the machine would automatically came to the same pressure since it was automatic.

Did you star the oximeter at the same time you started the CPAP?

RE: Bad O2 days with APAP?
EDIT
Nevermind I think you are actually correct and the timestamps are for some reason incorrect. I checked and I started streaming from the bedroom at 23:12 pm. So I should have put the O2 ring on around then.

No, I put the O2 ring on when I went to bed IIRC. Started to doubt myself but they don't run for the same time either (O2 is 22min longer) and otherwise they should have maybe been a minute or two different. O2 ring shows a lot of movement near the end so maybe I just turned it off accidentally. I usually download the data on my phone when I take it off so should be something I noticed because that's what I did since I wanted to check the O2 levels so for all I know the device was actually on when I woke up. It's all very weird to be honest.

If you purge the oximetry data for that day, you can create a copy of the O2 data file and rename it to match the start time of the CPAP. You would then import the modified copy.

RE: Bad O2 days with APAP?
Thanks! I'll have a look at what's wrong with the O2 data and try to correct it. Strange that the timing is off for just this one night, first time it happened. Not sure why it would happen.

I do have a question about my data from last night.
I woke up during the night (around 4:10 AM), because of a noise. Now, this isn't the first time I noticed this, but the first time I actually woke up from the noise. Previously this happend when I started the CPAP or was still awake.
Sometimes the hose makes a weird "clapping" sound when breathing in/out, anyone else had this happen? It seems to come from where it's connected to the mask and where the ventilation holes are, I assume it might be because of some water droplets though since I upped the humidity last night. And if I lay the hose in a certain direction, which seems so far vertically, it's also gone. I noticed the "snore" graph and I'm fairly sure it's from that sound and not me snoring since it stopped when I woke up.

Also a question about the leak graph. This seems to stem with increased pressure, is this just more air being pushed out the ventilator holes? Or would there be an actual leak happening?
