[NEWBIE] I cannot sleep with CPAP
Hello Community,

I would like to ask for some help. I have sleeping apnoe and I bought a CPAP machine with humidifer and a Resmed Airfit F20 Full Face Mask.

I have an Auto CPAP Machine called Hoffrichter Trend III.

As soon I go to bed I start the machine with about 25 minute of Soft-start on pressure 8 and later it goes to 12.

Im trying since 4 days but I cannot sleep with it, until im awake its perfectly good, but as soon I sleep a few seconds I wake up with a small panic attack and want to turn off the machine, because I cannot breath.

What would you try? Any settings I should try?

Thank you.

Hello, Your machine and software are not compatible with this site. The good folks here need to see charts from the Oscar software that is free. That’s how they make suggestions on what your settings should be. Anything less would be just guessing. Look at the Wiki articles on the top of the home page, there’s a section on what machines are compatible with the Oscar software.

Oscar may be able to help you with your CPAP device.
Can you please send an archive file (zip or 7z) of your sd card to LoudSnorer's Receive DropBox
The name of the archive should include your user name and you device name Hoffrichter Trend III.

RE: [NEWBIE] I cannot sleep with CPAP
Hello!

Thank you very much, I accept any type of help.

(Accidently I uploaded two wrong 7z with wrong naming first, please just delete them ).
Finally I uploaded as "colethegamer HoffRichter Trend III.7z"

Also I opened an issue on OSCAR's gitlab to add Hoffrichter Trend III to compatible devices's list.

Anyhow I have a software finally with I can read out data, I have statistics, breath signals what shows everything and also an event list, I thought somebody with enough knowledge can analyse that and tell me what should I change to being able to sleep. I can wear the mask and run it on pressure 10 or any other pressure for days, but as soon I would fell alseep I wake up in 1 second with a need of oxygen/air.

Of course I understand this forum takes care only about peoples who using OSCAR, so in that case please try to add my device to OSCAR.

Thank you very much.
It would really save my life.

Welcome to Apnea Board, colethegamer!

You'll have to bear with us for a bit, as of now, we are not familiar with your Cpap.
But we will attempt to help in whatever way we can.

Since you stated you have software that shows statistics and events, can you upload it here and someone will look at it.  We can't analyze it unless we can see it.

Please use the Attachment Feature to post data here.

Here's a tutorial to guide you:

RE: [NEWBIE] I cannot sleep with CPAP
colethegamer, your pressure appears to be 12 hPa (12.3 cm-H2O) with 3-cm of expiration pressure relief. You are starting with a Ramp pressure or Soft Start of 8.0. If you find the 8 hPa pressure tolerable, I recommend you set your maximum pressure to 8.0 until you are able to tolerate higher pressure. We want to get usage in, and that won't happen if you're hitting the panic button as soon as the pressure rises. As you become more adapted to the pressure, we can observe the event types and frequency and determine if higher pressure is needed, then slowly work towards getting to that effective pressure. It's far better to get you started and comfortable, than to subect you to a pressure you cannot tolerate.

LoudSnorer is one of the lead developer programmers for Oscar, so if he can decipher your machine code, it may become supported. How common is the Hofreichter in Europe?

RE: [NEWBIE] I cannot sleep with CPAP
Thank you very much for both of your kind words.

Yes I try to even use it when im working before the computer or watching TV, to make it easier.

The pressure itself does not make any problem, I can already tolerate even the 13-14 hPa, but only until im awake, as soon I fall asleep doesnt I wake up.

I'll put down to 8 and will test on it for a while from now as you told. I'll not use ramp yet, only put to 8 pHa and leave it there as maximum.

Of course I have only so small data amount, I try to keep it on as much I can and try to sleep again and again so at least data is getting saved to the device, I know this is the only solution.

I'll upload now a few picture about the software.

Thanks again and have a nice day.

Hoffrichter is very known in German, im living in Hungary but I found a guy who does not really know what he is selling just bought a big bunch of amazon left overs I think so, I was able to get a totally new still packaged, Hoffrichter Trend III Auto + Humidifer with papers, bag , everything really. It was untouched. It was a few bucks, as soon he didnt knew what he is selling, this is how I got it.

Thank you very much again for your kind words, really helping me get out of the dark both with knowledge and feeling.

I sent you all my datas what I got from the easySET software from Hoffrichter. I cannot post link or attachments more than 3 here this is why I used private message, hopefully not an issue, later i'll post it here too as soon I can.

Really appreciate your help.

This is the link that colethegamer sent:

https://files.fm/u/wd2uscz42v

Some of it is too small and fuzzy to read.

I think much of the problem may just be some anxiety with something new.

Try using the settings that Sleeprider suggested until you can acclimate to the pressure.

You can also try using the mask with suggested pressure an hour or so before bed.
Just sit up reading or watching TV. This will distract from the pressure while trying to fall asleep.
