[CPAP] Struggling with the whole thing
#1
Struggling with the whole thing
Hello friends, glad to have found you.  I am a 66 yr old female with long history of sleep apnea , I had a CPAP years ago and just could not handle it due to extreme claustraphobia, I have had nasal and throat surgery, and recently had a 7,000.00 dental appliance made that was sure to solve my problem...and didn't.  Now,  I am back to the CPAP, it is really my last hope.  I have several chronic health problems, including an episode of heart failure that may have been partially due to my lack of good sleep.  So, I have the Resmed 10 machine and am just having trouble with the nasal mask, am wondering if I should get a nasal pillow or try the full face mask thing again....I am also confused about the settings on the machine itself.  I never can seem to get an overnight usage reading.  I am not sure what I am doing wrong there.  Maybe I should just go back into the medical device office and talk to them again.   I am sorry if this sounds too vague, just trying to figure this out.  I am having trouble feeling comfortable with the nasal mask itself....any help is appreciated!!

RE: Struggling with the whole thing
Hi and Welcome to Apnea Board!

First, can you be more specific as to which nasal mask you have and what problems you are having with it? Are you a mouth breather?

Also, which model of AirSense 10 are you using? You can find the name on the front.

AirSense 10 Cpap (No detailed data, summary data only*)
Airsense 10 Elite
Airsense 10 Autoset
Airsense 10 AutoSet for Her

Next, download OSCAR software and set up your profile. Be sure you have a SD card in your Cpap while using it.

If you have any of the above machines (except the AirSense 10 Cpap*), we'll be asking you to download some data. Then we will be able to help you find the right pressure settings.
