CSR event has me worried
have been on my CPAP for a little over 3.5 months. I've been monitoring my data in OSCAR as well as sleep HQ. Last night was the first night in OSCAR that I got flagged for a 23 minute CSR event. I am trying to find out if this is a true CSR event or just a miss read, I can say that I stayed up until almost 1am last night before going to bed. I was watching the election and was stressed. I didnt know if this contributes or not. Normally im in bed by 9 pm. It also occured right during the time where I wake up. My machines time is wrong due to the time change..... I am normally up around 4-5am.
Can anyone tell me if this is a false event. Should I be worried? Thank you for your help.

RE: CSR event has me worried
Any known heart conditions, like congestive heart failure that you have? Any other issues your cardiologist is working with?
If not, it's periodic breathing being flagged.

RE: CSR event has me worried
Cheyne-Stokes breathing is a sub-category of periodic breathing, and it has some distinctive characteristics. One is that you'll see a central apnea or central hypopnea between the periods, and another is that the periods have a sinus-curve look to them when you follow the inspiration peaks in the flow rate. The wax/wane periods are around 40 seconds long, and the pauses between are about 20 seconds long. Your snippet doesn't have that look to them.
The machine can spot periodic breathing, but it can't distinguish between CS periodic breathing and non-CS periodic breathing. It's a shame they call all periodic breathing "CS breathing," since it worries people like you! If you keep seeing more green on your charts, and if it concerns you, please come back to this thread to let us know.

Thank you for looking at this for me and easing my mind a bit.
If I continue to have events I will for sure come back for additional options. Thank you again.

RE: CSR event has me worried
Not to my knowledge. I'm 34 M and pretty active. I know these things can happen at any age but just wanted to paint a picture for you.
I've never been diagnosed with any heart issues but I've also never gone to a cardiologist. I did just have some blood work done last week that was a just a basic health panel. It showed everything was normal with my blood. I know this isn't a deep in to my heart but figured something my show up on my blood test if I was having issues. Thank you for your help. |
