Diagnosis question

Diagnosis question
Hello and thanks for letting me join this board.

My question is not about CPAP but about the initial test for sleep apnea.

I have recently been diagnosed with a sleep apnea. I've never had a problem that I've noted with the quality of my sleep, but as a result of the diagnosis I've been issued with a CPAP (Lowenstein) machine which I am in the early days of trying out.

However, I have a question some people here have probably asked too. My sleep test was in a hospital and, with all the wires and boxes attached to me, I could not sleep on my side, and so, when I managed to sleep,  slept on my back. As far as I can tell and as far as my partner has observed, I normally sleep more on my side than on my back.

So, in this case, would the test have diagnosed a worse sleep apnea than I actually have?

I wish I'd taken this up with the doctor at the time! However, has anyone else here had this experience?

RE: Diagnosis question
In my experience, I like had fewer apnea episodes during my sleep test than normally at home. I also had terrible nightmares during the sleep test, the worst nightmares I've had in my life. So, I'm not sure you can compare one situation exactly with the other.

What I'd recommend is to post your OSCAR charts here, and you'll get input on the quality of your sleep when you're at home.

RE: Diagnosis question
Which Lowenstein Cpap do you have?

Yours may be supported by OSCAR software.  If you're able, download OSCAR and use the links in my signature line to post a couple charts here for review.

In addition, if you have a copy of your sleep study, post it here.

RE: Diagnosis question
Hello and thanks for your reply.

I thought I'd replied previously but it seems the reply was not recorded. My fault, no doubt.

I only have my sleep study on paper. I can scan it and send it if you think it would be useful, but it's also in French as I'm currently living in Paris.

As I understand it, OSCAR software is useful to record sleep patterns? I have, so far been unable to sleep using the machine.

It's a Lowenstein prisma SMART max
