Is there annual check-up for that? When I visited a DME, he pulled out some sort of pressure detecting instrument with a gauge.
How often does it need to be checked and anybody have experience the machines degrading over time?

Does Airsense 10 require periodic calibration checks?
Does Airsense 10 require periodic calibration checks? Does anything go out of the tolerance? Like how it senses it's pressure output, or perhaps reduces pressure output over long term usage?

RE: Does Airsense 10 require periodic calibration checks?
The accuracy of the pressure matters little. Why? Because you adjust pressure(s) to optimize your therapy. For that there are IMHO 2 phases. The first is to get you under 5 and hopefully near 2.5 by adjusting your various pressure settings up or down depending on what you are trying to accomplish. The second phase is all about comfort. Adjusting settings again, but not for therapy, but for comfort. This is a very subjective tuning.

This is only in case you use Auto settings. If you use it as a CPAP, then calibration is important. And some suggest CPAP is better.

No it dose not matter if it is automatic or fixed. You adjust either to the pressures you need to reduce your apnea.

RE: Does Airsense 10 require periodic calibration checks?
It is all relative - if it isn't optimal for you then you adjust the setting up or down from where you are at. The only time a setting is arbitrary is when it is new and you are trying it for the first time.
I suppose if it was a husband/wife/sig other/etc sharing a backup machine it might need to be in the ballpark. But even then you would tweak it based on the night's sleep. |
