Idid not try to get the edges even. I just cut out the divider.
I'm thinking that not cranking on the top strap. I'm thinking the nose just needs to rest on the nosepiece rather being forcibly pressed into it.

I use my F30 at 13-16cm range. Everyone's face is different of course.
For me with the F30, I adjust straps for a fairly snug at the bottom (helps keep my mouth closed), and then adjust for pulling upwards on the nostrils (keeps my nasal open).
