[Equipment] Losing mask seal during the night
#11
RE: Losing mask seal during the night
Jama1219, As you are in the VA system. You just need to submit a request for a new mask. It takes about a week to get one. As you were issued the F&P you just need to log on at the resupply web page. Once there. You can order replacement supplies for issued items.

And masks seem to be the Kryptonite for PAP users. I have tried a Resmed P10, Resmed N30, Resmed F40i, Resmed N30i with a P30 pillow to swap out. Been on my machine for a month.

For me the P10 is no good, N30 is no good, F40i has issues staying sealed, but is so nice and quiet.
The Resmed N30i with either the nose cradle or nose pillow insert seals the best. But is noisy. Sounds like I became Darth Vader.

RE: Losing mask seal during the night
After switching to the large mask I was able to last about 4 hours on the machine.  I still had the mask start leaking leaking after about the first hour.  Then it seems it leaks roughly every hour after that.  The noise from the leaks is not as loud from the large mask compared to the medium mask and when tightened to seal the leaks there is far less discomfort with the large mask.  Is my difficulty with leaks just a matter of getting the mask tightened to the right point or is it something else?  Heres my Oscar from last night.  Thanks

RE: Losing mask seal during the night
When I started I noticed that my mask started leaking in the middle of the night. Part of it is getting the strap tension adjusted correctly, but for me another factor was the anxiety associated with being new to CPAP. It caused excessive sweating and I had sometimes get up in the middle of the night, use a wipe on the mask, and wash and dry my face. The problem soon went away.

It is a matter of the right mask and the right tension. There are still many times I will wake for a moment at 2am and tighten the lower straps slightly.

Would one of the padacheek products help either an anti-leak strap or mask stabilizer? I used the anti-leak strap with some success until I change to a pillow mask. Good luck..

RE: Losing mask seal during the night
Last night my mask leaks improved greatly after taking time to adjust the mask and also wiping the oils off my face.  Last night was also my first full night of sleep on my machine though I'm still getting the same amount of sleep as before.  I'm still waking up every night after roughly the first hour of being on the machine, last night being without any leaks and also still waking up every 2 hours to relieve myself. Is there some tweeking on my settings I can do to improve this? With the CA's I'm seeing in Oscar, especially after the first hour or so,  I'm beginning to wonder if I should be on a BPAP instead of my CPAP. I've inserted last night's Oscar and my Home Sleep Study Report for someone to take a look at.

Thanks,
Joe

You still have some leaks.  There is one significant H cluster and CA's cluster as well on this chart.

Just a thought.  If you are waking up every 2 hours to go to the bathroom, have you been checked by your Dr. for male BPH?
