Be careful of "deodorizers". Most are chemicals that mask the odor and do't actually do away with what you are smelling.

If you had roaches to the point of seeing them scurry around, there is a good chance they were able to get in your machine. That nasty, bitter acrid smell is roach crap. It looks like little brown grains of sand. Without complete dis-assembly of your machine, you will never get rid of the smell, much less get rid of the crap. At this point, I wouldn't settle for anything less than a new machine.

I agree, it's unsafe. I guess they got in through the mask. Probably attracted to the moisture.

Take it to the DME and ask them to replace it. Call your doctor if they balk.

I agree with all who said take the machine back to the DME.
Roaches and their various smells are so difficult to get rid of.
I wish you much success with your CPAP therapy and getting a new machine.

I agree with these. Roaches are notoriously able to squeeze past barriers (walk thru walls?) and are said to be the most likely survivors of a nuclear holocaust! Roach poop in my air supply would make me go nuh uh!

It is absolutely amazing (and disgusting) at the small crevices that roaches and other critters are able to pass through. They can pass through cracks and openings that are smaller than the thickness of a piece of paper. As others have said, I would not use the machine until it has been sanitized and cleaned internally. I usually don't worry too much about machine cleanliness but roaches go over the edge.

Just my $0.02 worth.

Lolol no joke! I'm going to take it into the suppliers store tomorrow. Honestly, I haven't used it since this happened, and I really need it. It just gives me the creeps.
