VPAP III ST-A
Hi all, New to The Forum & hoping I can find some help & hopefully give something back as well.
My current Machine is a Resmed VPAP III ST-A Purchased new in 2003, I have had one Blower repair aprox Five Years ago and looks like it is ready for another one soon.
My Question is does anyone know the Equivalent Machine in an S9, I figure would be better to put the money into a new Machine as Resmed tell Me after January next Year they will not be repairing My Model Machine.
RE: VPAP III ST-A
G'day Zed. Welcome to Apnea Board.
2003! They don't make 'em like that any more! The S9 is now a superseded range and was replaced a couple of years ago by the newer 10 series. The current bilevel machines in Australia are the Lumis 100 S and Lumis 150 ST (sometimes listed with the word VPAP in the name). The same machines in the States are called the Aircurve series. You may still be able to get new or lightly used S9 VPAP machines (various models) as well.
There is quite a range of capability and a huge range in price among these machines, so the first thing is to establish what your problem is and then establish the right machine to treat it. For example, do you have simple obstructive apnea, central apnea, COPD, other lung condition?
Have you had a sleep test recently? You can get these through bulk-billing providers so your out of pocket cost is zero or quite small (especially if you also have private cover). I think that would be a good first step as it will give you an up-to-date snapshot of how you're sleeping and breathing, and from that the most appropriate machine can be selected.

Thanks for the reply, Booked in to see specialist in thtee weeks.
Spoke with Resmed Yesterday and quoted 7.5k for a replacement machine in Australia
Will definitely be buying from The U.S at those prices.
RE: VPAP III ST-A
At that price I'd say they quoted RRP for the Lumis 150 ST. You can get it at least a thousand bucks less at on-line sellers in Oz, and nearly three thousand off from the States. The 150 is the top of the range, and it may be that a lower cost machine will serve your purpose. When you see the doc, you need to get him to go into detail about exactly what you need - it could save a lot of money. On the other hand, you don't want to get stuck with a lower cost machine that doesn't treat your condition.
