In a deep, judgemental tone: " we would prefer that you not use the phrase 'getting hosed' . It has unfortunate connotations."

RE: First night by the numbers: I've got basic questions
With the knowledge gleaned here, you are going through the learning phase of CPAP therapy. Do expect the AHI to go down as you get used to the device and therapy. As many here will state, this typically goes down once you're used to the machine, and of course after you control any leak issues. That is typical for almost everybody that uses a CPAP, BiPAP, etc.

Just be aware that there are some patients, like myself, that have a more rare variant of apnea that responds negatively to standard CPAP and BiPAP, causing what's called Central Apneas and leads to a Mixed Apnea state. I am not saying this includes you though.

Best to ya and when able post charts.

That's mindblowing. Per the sleep study, my CMS AHI 4%+ O2 desat was 5! My 3%+ AHI was 18. Almost all hypopneas. That's why I was curious about O2 desat.

I kept telling the docs my situation was way worse than the sleep study. Seems I was right.

Point well taken: in that context, I used the slang disrespectfully.

"Getting hosed", with appropriate usage, is what the DME tried to do to me by giving me used equipment (see other thread).    Wink
