Good doctors
I am in desperate need of a good doctor who will listen to me despite the fact that my AHI is under 5 and who will take a look at my data. I'm in Indiana so preferably in the Midwest but at this point I'd hitchhike cross country in a friggin wheelchair to get some relief. I thought it might be a good idea to make a thread where people could share information about doctors who go above and beyond the typical BS

RE: Good doctors
Will your Primary care doctor listen and assist in Apnea therapy needs? You don't need a specialist.

RE: Good doctors
I'm thinking about giving that a try but getting a doctor to do something based on a specialty they don't know much about seems like a tough sell

RE: Good doctors
That probably counts for most sleep specialists as well. Given the comments here about poorly handled Apnea treatment from the majority here, these specialists aren't doing very well for being special. I'd not at all be surprised if most moonlight from other medical practices.

RE: Good doctors
Oh I get what you're saying. You're absolutely right. Seems like the majority of "sleep doctors" know very little about sleep disordered breathing. Especially compared to the sleep techs that do their job for them. That being said getting a doctor to see that and go outside of their medical school brainwashing is a tall order

RE: Good doctors
Understood. Despite what I said above, I finally have a sleep medicine doctor that does care and listens to my subjective comments on the therapy. 1 out of 6 sleep doctors listened to me within reason.
And I'm considering replacing my Primary with maybe internal medicine doctor nearby.

RE: Good doctors
I had a pulmonologist about fall out of his chair when I told him I changed the pressure myself.
I was gone in under 5 minutes after he said you leave it at 4 -20

RE: Good doctors
I'm sure my Johns Hopkins doctor thinks I'll change my settings, after I said I had to in the past with ASV.

RE: Good doctors
We have a member here that was told that changing the pressure settings on their rented cpap machine was an illegal activity..
