BREATH RATE
A little history first: I am a 77 year old male living in Falcon, Colorado with a elevation of 7000'. Because of my sleep history and extended usage of Zolpidem 5mg (sleep aid), my PP doctor sent me for a sleep study in January 2024, starting with the home study then an in-house study. Results were poor and the physicians recommended a BPAP (ResMed 10 AirCurve), with the settings of IPAP 17 and a EPAP 11, losing weight was also a recommendation and a follow up for an ASV trial in a few months. As I'm sure I'm not the first I had some issues getting used to wearing a full mask, but finally ended up with the ResMed F40 and can go to sleep wearing it. However with al of this said, I still average 70 - 80 events almost every day. But the strange thing is, we have a new Sleep Number Smart IQ that records my sleep, wake up, Heart Rate, Heart Rate Variability and Breath Rate. All of these results come out in the normal column with few exceptions. Finally, I know from past experience at medical facilities that I breath on the shallow side, which doesn't seem to be an issue as my oxygen level is always in the 90% range. So my question is; is it possibe the events I'm getting is because the BPAP is not recognizing my shallow breathing.??
Thank you for your valued input. Bob

RE: BREATH RATE
We'll likely want to get you into using OSCAR charts, they're free. You'll need an SD card to capture the data overnight.
Even so, I am going to guess you're having considerable CA content if the medicals are discussing ASV. CA treatment is what ASV does. If you get OSCAR running and can post a recent chart we can verify. But my guess is you'll need to push for getting ASV sooner than later.
