2024 is nearly gone, so I'd like to wish for all of our forum members to have a very happy Christmas and super New Year!

I'd also like to again thank those of you who make it possible for this place to exist. 

This really is a great community with such a wonderful group of helpful folks.   I'm so glad you all are part of the "Apnea Board family".  






It's kind of an Apnea Board tradition that I post this -- the following poem was written & recorded by me a few years back (text below the video).

So if you'd like to hear what my voice sounds like, here 'ya go:







Two Nights Before Christmas

Two nights before Christmas, in Sleeper's warm house,
No one was posting, no clicks of a mouse.
My hose was hung 'side my bed with great care,
and mask gently hissing; no straps pulled my hair.

The dog was quite settled, all snug in her bed,
While visions of dog treats danced in her head.
Wifey had her pillow, and I, my C-PAP,
We just settled down for a long winter’s nap.

When from my computer there arose such a clatter,
I sprang from my bed to see what was the matter.
Away to the keyboard I flew in a flash,
Put in my password, then hit "enter" in a dash.

An email, marked "urgent" popped up on my screen,
The heading "NEED HELP!" could easily be seen.
When, what to my wondering eyes should appear,
But a message from Santa, addressed to me, quite clear!

I read it with doubt, twice through, but quick,
I knew from then on it must be St Nick.
"My CPAP is broken", it began at the top,
"I need Apnea Board help, else Christmas will be a flop!"

"No sleep since Thanksgiving," the message proceeded,
"I must sleep tonight, your help-- sorely needed!"
I wondered - wrong pressure, broke hose or a mask on too tight?
Humidity, filter, perhaps a setting not right?

"Please call me right now..." near the end of the note,
A phone number I saw, that Santa had wrote.
I picked up my handset, dialed slowly with care,
Wondering whether he'd answer, I was on the edge of my chair.

And then, in a twinkling, I heard on the phone
A jolly old voice, familiar in tone.
"Ho-Ho, thanks for calling!" Santa Claus roared,
"I tried to get online, to post on your Board".

"The Web up here is so slow due to cold,"
"My computer runs XP, it's really quite old".
"SuperSleeper, please help me", the old elf did plea,
"I'm a digital-newbie, helpless as a North-Poler can be!"

His voice was tired and sad for a jolly old elf,
And I laughed when I heard him, in spite of myself!
I blinked my eyes, then shook my whole head,
"Dear Santa", I began, "You have nothing to dread".

A few minutes then passed; he explained what was wrong.
His skills somewhat lacking, but I helped him along.
We found the main issue, in quite a quick snap.
He forgot to plug it in - I mean the C-PAP.

He spoke not a word, but went straight to his work,
Slammed the plug in the outlet with a firm and quick jerk.
The machine turned on - pressure filled up the hose,
And Santa yelled out- "Ho-Ho! There she blows!"

"Thanks to you, friend!" he chortled with glee,
"Now I must move along, to decorate my tree".
With a click the call ended, but the phone was not dead;
I could hear noise in the background, Santa heading for bed:

"I must first get some sleep, to renew my old soul",
"Else children awaken Christmas morn' - with nothing but coal."
I listened, intent, to the sounds on the phone,
A tired old Santa, falling asleep; a sigh, then a groan.

He laid calm for a bit, then spoke softly once more,
"Christmas is saved, my CPAP's restored".
I hung up my phone, feeling great joy,
A needy child will now get a gift or a toy.

The next night as I slept, I faintly did hear,
Tiny raindeer hooves on my rooftop; it was quite clear.
I jumped out of my bed, ran to a snowy front lawn,
Turned around and looked up, but the sleigh had withdrawn.

I returned to the house and plopped down in my chair,
Pondering what had just happened - a very odd affair.
Then I heard a voice, afar off, from the sleigh in-flight:
"Happy Christmas to all, and to all a good-night!"

Did someone mention Merry Christmas from sunny Arizona? 

If so......I concur! Merry Christmas to all. 

And yes, I will be going for a m/c ride today.

Well, it's nearing 40 degrees and all the snow has melted.  So much for a white Christmas, but I'll definitely take it.  Supposed to be up to 50 degrees F this week in northern Illinois!

Big Guy - great living in Southern AZ. Haven't turned our heat on yet, actually can't - waiting on a new logic board. Still fairly comfortable in the house.

We use our gas fireplace at night for a few hours before we go to bed. It does a very good job and we usually don't need to turn the furnace on.
