Hopefully it's a smooth and sweet-smelling ride from here on in, HA.
I've always been a bit suss of power bricks, and always keep them as airy and far away from the unit that it's converting as possible.
I'm surprised it got so smelly, though.
I have mine on its side against the very shallow beading/skirting board so only the smallest contact patch possible is touching the concrete floor.

After a couple of weeks, even if the power brick is at the same height, the odor will be gone. BTW, I had the same problem and only figured the power brick thing out by accident.

My burning smell is evidently fixed. Definitely some kind of magic trick: I put the power brick on the floor.
My apartment smelled like I'd left a teflon pan on the stove with nothing in it.
