Basically that, are there any health risks to be aware of when purchasing a used CPAP machine from another end user online?

You can send it to supplier 28 and he can clean it and make it like new. Even replace the motor .
Just email him and he will respond with a quote.

Awesome, thank you!  I called a local DME and they started lecturing me about how it is a registered medical device and how I shouldn't be using it not knowing where it came from and not being registered to me and all of that jazz...

Don’t listen to that DME. There business model is to get your $$$. They want to sell you a new machine. That registered stuff was spoken by a person that is clueless.

When A person first gets a machine the serial # is entered into the DME’s software that Doctors office are also able to see. I think it called air view.

If you obtain a used machine, no one can connect you to that machine.

Lots of folks here buy used machines and have no problems with them. Some folks on our Supplier List (at the top of each page in the black ribbon) sell used machines. If those suppliers sold bad machines, they would find themselves dropped from the list.
Machine:  ResMed AirCurve 10 Vauto
Mask:  Bleep DreamPort Sleep Solution

Well this particular machine is from an end user not an actual supplier but sounds like they are pretty safe and I can always send it off to Supplier #22 I believe it was to have them check it out.  Thanks for the feedback!

The DME will try to sell you an ocean worthy fishing boat for use in Utah.

Even a used CPAP will be fine to use. Maybe change filters, using fresh hose and humidifier tub. Unless there's lots of run hours or was in a smoker's home, it'll be good.

Haha good to hear, thanks.  This particular machine is a Dreamstation 1 that he said has been remediated and has a no foam chamber now.  Not sure if I want to take it apart to verify that or not.  I am only using it for a short time to determine if I want to go down the BiPap road with my doctor.

You only want a Resmed machine. The dream stations were recalled because of the sound dampening foam. They are a hazard to your health. Plenty of post on here about them.
