I think because insurance pays the DME the same, and if they give you a simple basic CPAP and it falls within the doctors Rx, it costs them less and their profit is therefore increased.

To gain the ease of seeing what is going on in detail is one of the important reasons why we recommend the machines that we recommend.

Technically the basic machines are "capable" of delivering treatment, but to determine setting adjustments are just guesses, alright educated guesses, or another sleep study is required.

The basic CPAP would also require fewer hands on because with the lack of detailed session info there is a fallback to the Sleep Study recommended settings which are rarely challenged (unless you a member of a forum such as this).  Again cheaper and thus more profit.
