[Product Review] ResMed F40 Full Face Mask (* new *)

RE: ResMed F40 Full Face Mask (* new *)
I'm anxiously awaiting to try the AirFit F40. I'm due for new supplies in a month, maybe two @ most. I called my DME supplier and told them that I wanted to try the F40 when I'm due for a full mask replacement.  Cool

RE: ResMed F40 Full Face Mask (* new *)
I have started using F40 about 3 weeks ago.  The seal was great for the first 16-17 days and then it has been leaking a lot.  Is this cusion only able to last 2-3 weeks?  Or should it be replaced monthly?   I was told in the beginning that the all silicon cushion may be more prone to leaking.  Any thoughts and experience on this issue would be appreciated.

I have been told it is very important to wash the silicone frequently.

RE: ResMed F40 Full Face Mask (* new *)
Per Post #42 and Post #43 above, I find the same issue with my F30i cushion. When new, they seem to seal exceptionally well with relatively little headgear tightness. Once they have been used and washed daily, they don't seal as well, and I need to tighten my headgear to compensate.

I don't know what it is, but there seems to be a slight tackiness to the silicone when new that wears off after a few weeks. I found this to be the case with the F20 cushions too.

I'm due for a complete mask replacement in about a month and I am going to try to get Kaiser to let me give the F40 a try.

BTW, are there any guidelines as to figuring out what size headgear to use with the F40? I have searched the internet on the topic of sizing F40 headgear and only come up with crickets. My head actually measures smack dab in the middle of the two F30i headgears. So my problem is - neither one really works very well for me. So three to choose from (and adjustability) on the F40 looks promising to me. Given that, I'm guessing the Standard size would be my best first choice to try.

Thanks for the reply.  Although sizing guidelines may indicate to use same headgear size with cushion size--- I find that the standard headgear works for me. (I have smaller head) yet I am using a large cushion.   I believe the medium cushion was not wide enough to allow for easier breathing through my nose.  I would try a different size cushion astray make 3 different sizes and see which one fits you the best .

After really trying for a month, I have given up on the F40 and went back to using the AirTouch F20 (the one with the memory foam seal). Everyone is different when it comes to masks, so I don't want to discourage anyone. It just didn't work for me.

Gonna go pick up my ResMed AirFit F40 mask assembly today. I called and they will have one waiting for me. Gonna swap our a new, sealed in OEM packaging F30 for it.

Even trade.  like

I have it and tonight will be telling. I'm hoping it's even better than my AirFit F30 is. I made sure that a size medium is right & proper for me, and I set my machine from full face mask to pillows.

I had plenty of adjustment ability on the head gear. Cool

I think you will find it much better than the F30.  I hope you love it as I have. !  Sleep well!

For me, the AirFit F30 was a big improvement over the F20. Me and the F30 got along quite well.  Cool

I was curious about the F40, so I made it a point to get one. If it doesn't work out, I'll be happy to go back to the F30.
