RE: Question on Centrals
You would see that same thing for obstructive apneas as for central apneas. You stop breathing and the volume of air that you breathe does down, both minute and tidal.

In the sense that when I'm not using the machine I'm a ~50/50 mouth vs nose breather. When I use the machine I'm good about keeping my mouth closed hence I'm 100% nasal breathing through the nasal pillows. My question is if I were to use a full mask (which theoretically is more like my natural sleep breathing of mixed mouth and nose), would that make it easier to breathe during sleep so when my nasal breathing wants to "rest" shall we say then mouth perhaps would take over? Not sure if I'm reaching with this one but curious if anyone has heard of that making a difference. I do like the fit of the nasal pillows and they stay on without any issues so Im not too keen to give them up but I would if it made a difference. Thanks again to all of you for the feedback/info!

RE: Question on Centrals
If you can get nasal or pillows style masks to work, and it sounds like you have, I'd not suggest a change. The only time a full face makes sense to me is if you cannot stop the mouth breathing or leaks. It is what I have used, and will use again as I have trouble with mouth breathing and would rather not subject myself to extras to seal the mouth.
