Replacement parts schedule

This.
The filters, cushion, and headgear are the most important... replace based on your comfort.  The frame will last forever, though the P10 should probably be replaced once a year because of the vent design.
The humidifier tub does have a silicone seal that will eventually deteriorate, but there are also two seals inside the housing itself that are apparently intended to last the life of the machine, so I really don't think the tub seal is a problem.
Weekly washing of the tub with mild dish detergent or baby shampoo (my preference), and every month or so, I'll give it a rinse in hydrogen peroxide to catch any biofilm in the corners that might have escaped the scrubbing.  We use only distilled water except on vacation, when we use bottled water.  If your tap water is clean enough to drink, it can be used safely, but hard water will leave deposits.

Tubing, wash it once a week and replace if the ends start deteriorating or you notice the hose breaking down.  The factory Resmed hoses are MUCH higher quality than the junk I get from Apria.

Since my insurance covers 100%, we just take what they give us and put it into our "retirement box" for when we'll probably be paying for our own.  The tub design will likely change, but the hoses and mask parts won't.

RE: Replacement parts schedule
Different cushions and mask designs will result in different preferred change intervals.
The memory foam on the Airtouch F20 is pretty delicate, and Resmed originally recommended 30 days.  They have since gone to a 60 day recommendation (good, it's not a cheap mask!).  I seem to start getting excessive leakage from the P10 if I push it, but the headgear is the weak point because it stretches out and is not adjustable.
Any other mask, once you have a spare (or buy one separately), you can wash the headgear and use your old one that night to allow it to dry.
The P10 just doesn't regain it's elasticity.  It'll shrink up some after washing, but quickly stretches out again.

It's a shame, because I absolutely love the P10 pillows and mask design.  It's quiet, does not blow air on my wife, and is so comfortable it's like wearing nothing.
I've since switched to the Innomed "Aloha" mask.  Similar pillow design, but with a much improved headgear design.  The drawback is the vent blows a pretty strong flow.

RE: Replacement parts schedule
My insurance would send me a replacements based on their schedule. Mask, cushion, filter, headgear, tubing every 3 months, tank every 6 whether you needed them or not. I like to get as much out of my hardware as possible. About the only time I change my mask is when I trip over the box in the closet and realize I have 3 masks and enough tubing to replumb my house (not that I would, but you get the idea). Filters are the only thing I change religiously and wash the main foam one first.

Thanks to everyone who replied. I now feel better about not changing things religiously and will use common sense like most of you are doing.

RE: Replacement parts schedule
I really think *It Depends*. It depends on you, it depends on your environment, and it depends on the mask.

Filters - Depending on where I'm at, they get gross and junked up in as little as a few days (casinos with smokers all around, even though the smoking isn't in my hotel room), to a week (when I'm at the beach with sandy air), to a month or so (in my non-dusty room).

I admit I am personally pretty sensitive to smell, so I am perhaps more prone to changing my filter more often than some others.

As for the cushion... When I used the P10, it stopped sealing as well after a month. I am sensitive, so I noticed this consistently. But for those not as sensitive, they may not even notice or care. So I for sure need new P10 cushions monthly. Yet for some other masks, I don't notice that degradation, so I can go longer on one cushion.

Headgear... My P10 headgear stretches out pretty quickly. I assume that's why it comes with the oval clips - so you can still get it snug after it stretches out. But I have to replace the P10 headgear much more frequently than other headgear.

Hose... I've been 2 years on the same 2 hoses. When I wash one and hang it to dry, I have a spare ready to be used. I don't know how a hose goes bad... besides maybe if I sat on it or it gets crushed while traveling.

Reservoirs... I was trashing mine quickly due to using scrub pads to try to remove the hard water deposits that were crusted on. But once I learned that a 5 minute soak in vinegar could remove them effortlessly, now all of my reservoirs look brand new. BUT I do need the spares because I go through the entire tub's worth of water in one night, and if I sleep a tad too long I smell burned popcorn... and what do ya know, I can't sleep with that smell, so I switch it out for a clean reservoir and I can go back to sleep.

So... that's my defense of my position - it really does depend.

Monthly - mask cushion, air filter
Every 3 months - Mask frame, air tubing
Every 6 months - Headgear, water tub

I have had the machine about 1/2 year and have replaced the mask cushion a few times and the filter a few times. Is there any good reason to stick to the manufacturer's schedule if I keep my equipment clean, or are they just selling parts?

No, you aren't obligated, but I do recommend replacing the air filter monthly unless yours never turn grey.  I recommend having several backups, but beyond that, buy as you need.

I currently have 4 extra pillows, 6 extra air filters, 2 extra complete masks, 2 tubing, and 2 water tubs.

I am on my original water tub at this time (over 3 years), but just had to replace tubing after my tube was gnawed on by a young cat while housesitting.  I replace my filters every other month in the winter and every 2-3 weeks in the summer. I used to have to replace my pillows more often, but since I went to the larger size, they last longer. FWIW, one of the Resmed manuals said that water tubs are designed to last 2.5 years.

Words are important since you will never know that your filter will NEVER turn grey you should replace it monthly!!!  Sorry, I couldn't resist.
