Resmed Aircurve 11 VAuto I:E

Can anyone help explain why the ResMed Aircurve 11 VAuto displays the I:E value as a whole number?
I have read the clinical manual and I don’t understand why it is not a ratio. 
Any help or advice would be appreciated as well as what value/s would be considered good or normal.

This is just a guess. It is probably because the value on the left of an I:E ratio is usually a 1. If you look at your inhale and exhale times, the exhale is usually longer.

The I:E numbers are actually percentages (and so ratios). The formula behind N% is N = I/E. There's a bit of rounding that can nudge N up or down a little.

I recommend looking only at your medians.

Not any big concerns.
i just purchased a new machine Aircurve 11 up from Aircurve 10. I also used a dreamstation bipap. The aircurve is much more detailed in therapy settings. Since i was setting up the new machine i was reviewing the settings and just looking at my info and making sure it is all good.
which is why i noticed on the Aircurve 11 the I:E is listed as 50 (after i started using it) and didn't make sense as i was expecting a ratio or a number like 2 or 3 as in 1:3. But i think 50 means 50% as in 1:2.
one other question i have is my RR rate is mostly about 18 to 20, but sometimes Oscar shows it as really high like 41. I dont' really see how this could be as i would be hyper ventilating. i think this may be when i am having mask leaks through my mouth. I am currently trying to use mouth tape or a chin strap. it seems to be helping with my mouth leaks. 
Any thoughts appreciated.

Most people and even earlier versions of Sleepyhead and Oscar calculated the I:E ratio incorrectly. As Crimson Nape noted, the ration is properly stated as 1 to the corrected ratio of expiration/inspiration. This can also be expressed as the inverse of inspiration to expiration. So if inspiration is 2 and expiration is 3 seconds, the result is one to 3/2 or 1 to 1.5 (1:1.5). Nearly everyone calculates it using expiration as the denominator which gives a product less then 1 in normal respiration. This is ratio of inspiration to expiration, but not the corrected ratio normally accepted as correct. The expected outcome of a healthy I:E ration is greater than one, and generally less than 3. The I:E ratio was removed from Oscar years ago because it was simply being calculated wrong, and the calculation was not being produced by the device reporting software. In addition, devices other than Resmed produced incorrect inspiration and expiration times. For example on Philips devices, Oscar calculated the time when flow crossed zero and used that to estimate inspiration and expiration times. It turned out that grossly under-estimates expiration and increases inspiration time, as many individuals have zero flow ahead of inspiration. This is a normal part of expiration, and it is also the reason we cannot trust the inspiration and expiration times reported for any device without actually looking at the zoom of the flow rate to verify it is being reported correctly.

The high respiration rates may reflect some frequent crossing of the zero line that doesn't really reflect actual inhalation and exhalation. You could post a zoomed-in snippet of an interval with a high RR, ideally about 5 minutes long, so we can take a look.

In the above example there are about 26 breaths per minute, however expiration appears to be longer than inspiration. A little more zoom would help.
