S9 humidifier issue

Question
S9 humidifier issue
Hello all.

Im new to the board and just bought a reconditioned s9 with a h5i humidifier and heated hose.

This will be my 4th night tonight have has great sucess with the last 2 nights being under 1 AHI.

My issue is with the humidifier, i have it set to auto and have used next to no water from the chamber. Last night i woke with a very dry mouth.

My questions are;

1) is it normal to use no water from the chamber
2) is it normal for the lights on the humidifier to go out during the night
3) is it normal for the lights on the humidifier to stay on when the machine is fully shut down.
4) does the blue light mean cooling and yellow mean heating.

I have done some Google research but found little info.

It is the middle of winter in aus here at the moment.

Any checks i could do to test the unit would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Bradsky

RE: S9 humidifier issue
1) It depends on the atmospheric humidity & temperature in the room and what the auto setting is. I have never found that I used half the water, usually less, sometimes much less.
2) IIRC, yes (but it's been a couple of years since I used an S-9. Most folks don't really want lights on all night. Example - lighted screens - particularly bluish lights - are a huge complaint.)
3) I don't think so.
4) No. The unit does not "cool".

When you get up, take the water chamber out and feel the plate at the bottom. Is it very slightly warm ("warm" may still feel cool as it may very well be a few degrees less than body temperature)? I suppose you could stick a thermometer in the water without letting the bulb touch the metal bottom and see if it is a couple of degrees above room temp. The heating humidifier is not supposed to "heat up" the water significantly or the air. It is only intended to raise the temperature a few degrees to increase vapor pressure, not supply a warm sensation to the user. IIRC, the highest possible heat setting on the S-9 when using climate line hose is 30 deg C.

The light in the humidifier should dim out after a minute or so. It's blue in the daytime; and sort of yellow at night. I do not know if it uses the internal clock or a light sensor to determine what color to use.

Australia is a big country, so it varies from Darwin to Melbourne. Darwin being in the tropics; and Melbourne in the mid southern latitudes.
