Returning To Therapy with Startling Results
#81
RE: Returning To Therapy with Startling Results
Well I have just completed an ugly week with doctors of all sorts, some of which I deem responsible for my never walking again and others who are likely going to finish the job of taking me OUT altogether. But with this oh so wonderful health care system, it is what it is and what more can I  say? I am beginning a new heart medication in an attempt to avoid heart surgery. Put it this way, I will avoid the surgery either way since no matter how many the tears be from my beautiful wife, I will decline ANY further surgery as long as I can stay awake to stop then.
Due to all this pressure and all the warnings I have gone ahead and borrowed the money needed to order a: New, Open Box  ResMed S10 VPAP ASV w/ Heated Humidifier from Seller # 2. I sure hope they are as trustworthy as so many say given the pretty dismal lack of communication I have had from them thus far. There are many different types of pressure in a persons life. I have decided that in this case, that old saying of "it's only money"is going to win over watching my poor wife look up at me, crying and asking me "don't you WANT to live? Don't you LOVE me"? I swear, I try to save her what I feel is money wasted and it just goes round & round forever! So machine is ordered and now, a full day later I still wait for even a simple email confirming the order..I'm about ready to give up! So, IF this new machine does ever find it's way to my doorstep in California I am going to have an age old question. It is about pressure. But this time a different kind of pressure:-)

Somewhere, if not everywhere I could swear I recall people saying for me to just set it on AUTO and let it do it's thing when setting it to ASV. But then after I placed my order yesterday I was doing Google searches on this machine and all sorts of people were quoted as saying NONE of them had any luck at all when using that "auto" setting. So I wonder is anyone here would tell me the 6 numbers most would use to set up the ASV Manually? I am SO frustrated with myself since I had put those numbers in a safe place for when the day came I would get this machine. Yeah well that sure didn't work because I have spent over 9 hours tearing the house apart...IF anyone is comfortable letting me know these numbers it would mean the World to me, by PM or here, it doesn't matter to me as long as I can find them again. I buried myself in debt for this and I swear, If I never find those numbers it will be a nervous breakdown that takes me out before my heart! Wink

And thank you so much for all of you who have been here for me struggling to try to get the ST to do the impossible. I just NEED to get my wife, my doctors and everyone else who has been pulling on me from every side to just leave me in peace. Or give me time to reload. (OK that's a joke now folks>)

You got the ASV from Suppler #2! They have reliably backed up everything I have ever seen that needed a return or repair. I think you will be amazed, now to get you dialed into comfort.

What are your initial settings, or is that what you're asking for?

Just to follow up. The default initial settings for the ASV are:

Mode ASVauto
Min EPAP: 4.0
Max EPAP: 15.0
Min PS 2.0
Max PS 15.0.
Ramp: off.

If we can start there, we can certainly help guide you to more comfortable and effective results shortly.

Thank you! Yeah it was fun trying to get the ST to do the job but you know that old saying, DIED trying?

Well they just sent me a tracking number, leaving them in That cold place they live and it says next Wednesday till I see it here in Southern California
I would like the initial setting but told I should set it at that, but then let it run in Auto mode?

PERFECT! That is where he has the old Clinic machine set too:-) The ones he gave me to keep me alive till I could/WOULD get the money to do this right:-)  So I guess it STILL works, even with the new stuff! THAT would be wonderful since I am SO terrified that this new machine sill beat on me like the ST which was NOT "fun".

Been takin up a LOT of prayin that this new model will be as kind and gentle as this oldie I have fallen for

Thank you and yes it did. I just set it up, changed the hours as instructed then set it to Auto ASV and adjusted those settings as well:-) 0.0 hours on the clock so they were honest as could be. Not any sign it had even been opened to be honest, though it was sold as "open box". I washed the humidifier with warm soapy water, dried it in the Hurricane dryer and waiting to go to bed. First time in a  very long time I looked FORWARD to going to bed:-)

My old USED cat has inspected it an approves too so guess it is a keeper. All I did was put it on my face for maybe a minute, or two to see if it BLASTED me or anything. To my surprise it didn't at all. In fact it it SO gentle, like I am not even connected to anything I almost worry it isn't even working? But hold my breath as long as I could and THEN I wished I hadn't! I honestly can't see myself having ANY kind of even when this dude kicks in....I am SO hopeful. Just no words.
