Safety Alert – ASV use in CHF Heart Failure Patients

Safety Alert – ASV use in CHF Heart Failure Patients
I did not see a thread about this yet, so thought I would post it.

https://www.sleepassociation.org/safety-...-patients/

ResMed has recently issued a notice that warns patients about the use of adaptive servo ventilation (ASV). Preliminary data from the SERVE-HF study suggest that there is an increase in cardiovascular death in patients who have symptomatic heart failure with left ventricular ejection fraction of less than 45-percent and are using ASV.

If you are using ASV or similar adaptive servo technology, talk to your doctor about your therapy plan.

RE: Safety Alert – ASV use in CHF Heart Failure Patients
This has been discussed in a couple threads on Apnea Board.

If interested but you don't have time to read much else, especially see DocWils comments in this thread:

Topic is also discussed in this thread:

RE: Safety Alert – ASV use in CHF Heart Failure Patients
I did not see the notification that you had posted on the other thread before I posted this.
I looked for previous threads but musta missed them, sorry about the duplicate post.

I looked at the other thread, and I understand what DocWils was saying. Sadly I fit in that narrow category.

The timing of this was really something. I was just finishing a short trial period with an ASV machine. I saw that it produced an improvement in my sleep quality.

So, with this advisory the sleep doc won't approve an ASV for me, so back to my Bi-Pap.
I will be seeing the dr. this week to see if she will put me on an ST so that I can at least get the benefit of the timed backup to push a breath to prevent the prolonged pauses.
