RE: Travel | Carry-On | Hand Luggage | Medical Alert
I have a medical tag on mine and I put each component in zip bags in case they open it. So far, no one in the US or Mexico has asked what's in it or opened it.

You don't need the tag. Most airline employees recognize it as a CPAP machine, and those that don't ask. I don't see how the tag would change any of that.
Once we asked to check our carry on bags because of space limitations on the plane, so I had to approach the counter and tell that I had a medical device that I had to carry on. She asked me what it was and I told her. She let me carry it on. It seems to me that with or without the tag, I would have had to do that. CPAP machines are used by more and more people all the time, so they have become recognizable and accepted.
