Weird Chart Probably Mostly Noise

Weird Chart Probably Mostly Noise
I thought I'd post my Dec. 14 chart as a curiosity.  I've never had anything like it. A typical night is a few CA's and one or two apneas and HAs, as in the Dec. 13 chart  The night of the weird chart wasn't anything unusual other than slightly more leaks and time with my mask off. The next day I felt a little more tired than usual but nothing extreme. Generally speaking, I'm a success story: the usual difficult first few months with my device but with help and adjustment advice from the forum eventually wearing my CPAP device isn't much different than wearing my pajamas.  Hopefully, the weird chart is just an example of a slightly restless night producing a lot of un-important noise.

The only real change I would make is the min change ....  Min 7

Min 5 does not allow the EPR to function correctly and it is to low for most adults.  This change will help your flow limits which in turn will stop your pressures from going up.  The pressure chart should be as straight (without large peaks) to make it a restful night.

RE: Weird Chart Probably Mostly Noise
Hi StacyBurke, Thanks for responding but I think I'll leave my settings where they are under the philosophy of "If it ain't broke, don't fix it." I wasn't exaggerating when I said that wearing my CPAP is as comfortable as wearing my pajamas. In fact, I actually like my machine. As I half jokingly say, "I've been breathing in an out all on my own for almost 80 years so I'm pleased to finally get a little help." (Of course, what I really like is how it has greatly improved my waking quality of life).

Also, although it's been a long time since I educated myself (via this forum), I think I vaguely remember that an increased pressure can increase CA. At my current settings I already have more CAs than OAs.

I agree with Stacey, your starting pressure should be set at 7.  You will sleep better with this change.  Smile

Thanks for adding your opinion. I take advice from experienced members of the board like you and Stacey very seriously because it's what got me to comfort with my device and low numbers. But I'm a little puzzled by the advice that if I raise my starting pressure to 7 I'll sleep better. I assume you don't mean I'll have enough fewer OAs to make a meaningful difference in how well I sleep because I already average less than one. What would change to make me sleep better? I assume I sleep just fine now but I also incorrectly assumed I slept just fine before I started CPAP therapy.
