RE: seems like I need to raise max pressure?
Thanks for your advice Walla Walla and Bonjour.
I have been using the Calder releaf collar but still get the cluster of events. I have a neck problem and sleep on a special pillow since my neck surgery.
I really am at a quandary to how and fix this problem. This has been a problem for as long as I have been on CPAP. Some of the back to back clusters of apneas have quite a long duration also.
Is this probably contributing to my not getting restful sleep? Would increasing the ps help?
Thanks so much for your time and advice.
RE: seems like I need to raise max pressure?
PS or any CPAP pressure is unlikely to open an obstructed airway. In fact, when you have an OA your machine remains at EPAP pressure until you initiate the inspiration. You know this looking at mask pressure. I did not respond earlier because i have already replied a half-dozen times in this thread that your problem is positional, and I just get tired of repeating myself. It is the only explanation for hours of perfect therapy, punctuated by clusters of OA. The Caldera is a pretty good product, but is not the complete solution for you.
You mentioned a special pillow due to neck surgery, what is it? We had another member that was using an ergonomic pillow but had intense clusters of flow limitation and OA, that when he switched to a collar resolved the problem. In your case, it seems you get better results with the Caldera Releaf, but occasionally end up in a position that allows apnea.
RE: seems like I need to raise max pressure?
Thanks for your response. I use a pillow that has memory foam. I have tried numerous pillows and due to my neck issues it seems like the only one that doesn’t cause my neck problem to give me more pain.
Sorry if I didn’t realize what you have been saying. Only hoping to try and resolve this issue.
RE: seems like I need to raise max pressure?
So I have been using my aircurve vauto for about 6 weeks. I am finally feeling more restful in the morning and no longer napping in the afternoon. My ahi is under control and flow limitations are better.
My only problem left to tackle is aerophagia. I would really appreciate help getting this resolved. It's not that bad but would be great to eliminate. I feel I am so close to getting everything resolved if I can reduce this problem.
I reduced my ps from 4.4 to 4.2. I know it is usually ps that helps with this problem but I felt that trying to reduce ipap would help,I'm not sure if this is correct.
Can someone please recommend a solution to this problem. Thanks to all I am almost there!

Just hoping someone can assist me in this problem. Thanks

Your results are equal or better than my own. I don't know what to add other than to say it appears you have arrived. If you feel as good as your results look, enjoy.
RE: seems like I need to raise max pressure?
Thanks Sr but you might have missed post 174 concerning my aerophagia. Would really appreciate it if you can help me tackle I hope my last problem.
RE: seems like I need to raise max pressure?
Just my 2 cents. You might want to try a fix pressure by setting your minimum at 9.8cm and your ps at 4.2 with maximum IPAP at 14cm. See if keeping the pressure steady helps. If not I'd keep dropping all those settings little by little until you feel your not swallowing air anymore. It'll be a trade off though because your AHI is likely to rise. You have room though to play with.
RE: seems like I need to raise max pressure?
I understand where your logic is going. Would that be the same as if I was using the “s” mode?
Would it also make sense to try and decrease the max ipap to what the 90%ipap was say the past few weeks?Would that be an idea to reduce the aerophagia also?
Thanks WW
