DreamStation Go Recall [consolidated replacement & compensation info & questions]

RE: DreamStation Go Users | Anyone receive a replacement or repaired unit?
FWIW I just emailed my Canadian Online Supplier who I purchased my DS GO machine & Humidifier from asking for a refund. I don't really expect that they will comply, but based on posts on this thread I thought it was worth a try. ?

NOT the answer I was hoping for, but I got an almost immediate response, so therefore probably at least partly form letter.  This is what my Canadian Online Supplier replied to me:

"We apologize about the long delay.

To give you some perspective, the machines recalled are from the year 2009 to 2021. And just for machines, that's more than 5million units that need to be manufactured, and PHILIPS can only make less than 1 million a year. Thus the years of waiting. We can guarantee a speedy delivery once we receive the machines from PHILIPS.

On a side note, the Respironics DreamStation Go Travel Machine - Auto has been stuck at the border awaiting approval to enter the Country from Health Canada. So, it should not take toooooooo long. ?

So, we can still process your replacement once we get the machines, but for the refund, you'll need to go through PHILIPS for that as we are just an outlet.

Should you have any further inquiries, please do not hesitate to contact us again!

Thank you and have a great day,"

RE: DreamStation Go Users | Anyone receive a replacement or repaired unit?
I noticed an update on my Dreamstation Go status on the portal. Option for 1) $500, but does say “based on manufacturing date of your affected device”, whatever that means, or 2) a new machine, but it doesn’t say which machine you would get if you opt for a replacement.

ACTION REQUIRED
Our records show that you registered a Philips Respironics DreamStation Go CPAP device in response to the voluntary recall of certain CPAP, BiPAP, and mechanical ventilator devices.

There are two options for remediation that are now available to you.

You must select one of the following two options. There is no default option and in the absence of your selection, no action can be taken. If you have retained a lawyer, you may wish to consult with them before making your decision.

OPTION 1 - Financial payment for return of affected units: You can select the financial payment option below to receive $500, based on manufacturing date of your affected device. The payment that we are offering is to help ensure affected units are no longer in use. You will receive this payment via check when we receive your affected DreamStation Go device. Philips Respironics will cover the packaging and return costs once you have taken your device to a FedEx location. Please note return instructions will be included in the Patient Portal once you select this option.

OPTION 2 – Elect to receive a replacement device If you elect to remain in the remediation pathway, you must make the select "Receive a device" below.

You will have the option to provide a current prescription if you wish to continue with your current prescription. If you are unable, for any reason, to provide us with your current device therapy prescription, you have the option to receive a replacement device with automatic adjusted settings more commonly known as Auto- adjusting CPAP. You can learn more about Auto- adjusting CPAP settings here.

Thanks drwooddr!  Maybe light at the end of the tunnel for DS Go owners?  I went into site and selected replacement device with auto/default settings.  A $500 financial settlement doesn’t cut it!

It depends on what they give us. I could live with a Dreamstation 2 for travel, it’s not that much bigger than the go, but I have no interest in an older model. And with $500 I could get a ResMed AirSense 10 online.

Update: I called the toll free number. On the $500 payment option, thr rep had no idea what “based on manufacturing date of your affected device” means, and even checked with a supervisor who didn’t either. She said that was a great question. On the replacement device option, she seemed fairly confident that if you select the auto adjusting device option that you would get a DS2. I went with that option, we will see what arrives. It does appear that the Go will no longer be available, at least at this time.

I received a message today to either get a $500 refund or ask for a replacement and stay in the queue.

I just got the offer as well. I am grabbing the $500 and running from this company.

Of course, a DS2 in exchange for a DSGo would be a raw deal for long suffering DSGo owners. The DS2 is Phillip’s full size machine—its larger and heavier, requires a separate power brick, and the humidifier does not detach. The travel case for the DS2 is about the same size as a Resmed AS10 case. Those who bought the dedicated (and pricey) DSGo battery or humidifier would also be SOL.

My thoughts exactly. I'm not interested in owning ANOTHER DS2 OR DS1.
