Can OSAS be a (major) cause of my health problems?
A short description:
- In 2007 I got a heavy vertigo on holiday in Italy
- In 2008 vascular paroxysmia was diagnosed and Carbamazepine prescribed
- In 2013 the #1 vertigo center in the Netherlands (ADC) suspected OSAS and gave the advice to stop with Carbamazepine
- Nothing was done due to a medical error
- In Jan. 2019 I stopped taking Carbamazepine
- Several health issues began, most important: sleep disorder and anxiety
- In Apr. 2020 OSAS was diagnosed and CPAP prescribed
- Very positive effect initially, especially if AHI < 3, less during certain periods
- Sep.-Oct. 2020 sleep disorder and anxiety increased
- Nov. 2020 I got a panic attack after reading the 2013 diagnose
- A psychiater suspected hypomania and prescribed Quetiapine
- Sleep and anxiety improved
- Jan. 2020 Sleep and anxiety got worse
- Philips Dreamstation software shows AHI instability
- Pressure was increased from 7 to 8 and I started wearing a reversed bra with tennis balls
- Huge improvement: AHI < 1 and sleep improves
- OSCAR graphs show huge AHI instability from the beginning, increasing from Sep. 2020
- Session graph shows holes in Oct./Nov. 2020
Can OSAS be a (major) cause of my health problems?
RE: Can OSAS be a (major) cause of my health problems?
Can you please attach your nightly screenshot. It will tell us a lot.
RE: Can OSAS be a (major) cause of my health problems?
We really can't connect the health issues to your OSA, but we can take a look at some current Oscar charts and read what is in the tea leaves. If ,there is room for improvement, we can let you know the best path to get there. Of course obstructive apnea can be a contributor to other problems, including your anxiety, however the particular issues you list are not common among apnea sufferers, at least not from what I have seen on the forum. Optimizing therapy and understanding what factors affect it is a more constructive exercise than connecting the dots to past health issues.

Thanks, Gideon & Sleeprider,
I am trying to look forward, not backwards.
Please find my "dagrapport" attached.

Please find my summary report attached.

If that night was typical, it is excellent therapy. Your overview report suggest you normally have more events with a trend for more OA recently. The better graph to publish is the daily details taken as a screenshot with the respiratory statistics and settings as shown in the tutorial here

Like this?
- Flow Rate does not exist, I chose Resp. Rate
- Pressure graph does not exist (CPAP)
- Flow Limit does not exist (Respironics)
- I added AHI

And the last bad night as well
RE: Can OSAS be a (major) cause of my health problems?
That is the one! Your therapy and respiratory statistics are excellent. I assume you must feel comfortable and although there are a couple breaks in therapy, there is nothing I would change based on what I have seen.

Thanks Sleeprider!
Yes, I do. Dreamstation (CPAP) changed my health score from 5 to 8, on a scale from 1-10.
