Help me understand CA

RE: Help me understand CA
Thanks for your responses. Right now I'm having a hard time. Up all night due to anxiety and finally sleep from exhaustion in the morning.

Having comorbid depression and anxiety doesn't help either.

I have no trouble trusting the machine. Yes the mask is indeed tough love but if only it didn't leak so much. I simply can't sleep on my side. While lying on my back if i fold my neck downwards it leaks over the bridge into my eyes. If I tighten it to much it doesn't inflate right and leaks anyway. I'm a mild to moderate tosser but the mask restricts all movement.

Try the ResMed P10, fashion a clip to your PJs or a pillow at the end or a foot away from the end of your CPAP hose (your choice for comfort).  The idea is to let the small P10 hose float freely without the CPAP hose pulling on it when you turn.  I have no problem shifting positions with this setup.

Also, try reading, watching TV, playing a game with your Mask on and CPAP setup.  This is to help remove your anxiety.

Hopefully you will find that your anxiety and depression goes away or is greatly reduced once you can sleep again.  That happened for me and was a very pleasant shock!   I think in our case it might be worth considering some temporary chemical help.  I keep some Temazepam around for when I am having trouble sleeping.  Your doctor or pharmacist should be able to help you out.  A few nights in a row of good sleep, chemically induced at it is, will help your mental state a lot.

I toss and turn and I sleep on my side with a nasal mask.  The key here is to sleep on the very edge of the pillow with the mask hanging off it, it in the air.  I absolutely HATE leaks, however small they may be.  I use buckwheat pillow that is supportive and forms to a shape well.  I am sure you can find some pillow that will work for you.  It sounds like you have got the tightening correct.

RE: Help me understand CA
Bonjour Bonjour. Thanks for your reply and insight. Last night was way better. Somehow I managed to sleep through almost 5 hours with major leaks and hardly any events.

It will take 3 weeks to get my nasal pillows. I am thinking of ordering PK Brevida and the P10. I have also looked at the Nuance Gel pillows and to be honest, its getting quite confusing. Just give me a mask that I doesnt come off when I toss and turn. Is it too much to ask lol.

You are quite right. I find that my anxiety is directly related to my sleep and therapy. One good night and I wake up feeling less anxious and more happy. And I find that it is not just related to getting a good nights sleep, but directly correlates to my root of my ongoing anxiety - cpap therapy. A good night I feel like I am winning. A bad night and I panic. But a quote by Churchill that I read on another thread really put things into perspective for me. "If you are going through hell, keep going". Thats what I plan to do.

It’s normal for the mask to get dislodged when you toss and turn, and that for sure will mess you up. Many CPAPpers have to jury-rig their masks so they stay put.

Research masks in the review section of this forum. Also, look at the videos by LankyLefty on YouTube. He’s a sleep technician and makes really good points. IMO.

Going back to your “Thread Title”......no CA’s on this graph to worry about!
