Starting to Travel

In my relatively new job, I've begun to travel every other month.  I have a DreamStation 2 (swapped during DreamStation 1 recall). It's too big to put in luggage if traveling for >3 days. This forces me to check a bag, since I also carry a laptop.

How easy is it to get a travel size CPAP?  Do I need to justify it with another prescription? I cannot afford it out-of-pocket.

Who uses one and what brands are best?

If you already have a prescription, you should not need a separate one to purchase a travel machine.  However, if your insurance already paid for your DreamStation, they normally do not pay for additional machines within a 5 year period, even if you are required to travel.
This would probably be at your own expense.

Check Supplier #1 and other vendors to compare prices for travel machines.

Some of the machines available are the ResMed AirMini, Transcend, Z2 Auto.  I'm not sure if the DreamStation Go is still being manufactured.

I don't know much about them, but many say they are quite noisy.

Medical equipment is exempt from the carryon luggage limit. You should have gotten a carry bag with your CPAP and you can use that. You'll need to remove it from the bag to go through TSA inspection just like your laptop. No bigs.

I did a post several years ago of what I put in my CPAP bag. Can't find it but essentially it is an extension cord, extra filters, and an extra big rubber band or two to remind me to take the power cord/brick and the hose. I have a checklist now on my phone.
