Struggling with New Machine - Screenshots Posted
Recently I had to send my Resmed Aircurve 10 VAuto to a service center to be repaired and so I am now using my Dreamstation 2. My AHI's went from averaging 1.07 on the Resmed to averaging around 5.3 on the DS 2. I am hoping someone will take a look at my screenshots and see what adjustments I need to make.
Thanks, Mark

My response is based on what I have read here only. You need to set the A-Flex to no higher than a setting of 2. Unlike the EPR of a Resmed the Philips Flex settings work completely different. It seems that going from a setting of 2 to 3 puts the Philips out in left field.
Change this and see what happens. - Red

Hello Mark. I will try my best, but if anyone uses a Philips Dreamstation 2 or is familiar with it, please post.
I see an OA cluster at the end of your therapy in chart #1. Also kind of a Hypopnea cluster in chart #3. Those might be solved by lowering your current pillow height; sleeping on your side instead of your back (if you largely sleep on your back at night); and even trying a soft cervical collar (measure from chin to top of chest to get a size estimate). I see some CA's in the charts also. You can try reducing the A-flex like Crimson Nape (Red) just posted. Your min pressure is pretty high also. You might experiment with lower it a little if you want to.

Okay thanks. I changed Flex to 2 last night and my AHI was 3.97 which is lower than the previous nights but still alot higher than on my Resmed. Someone on the forum last year had helped me to see that I was having alot of OA positional clusters so I started sleeping with a soft cervical collar which did seem to help. On my Resmed I do have an occasional CA and Hypopnea but on my Dreamstation 2 there seems to be alot of them. My pillow and sleeping position are still the same as when I sleep with my Resmed so I think these numbers are being caused by pressure settings and the fact that the Dreamstation is not as good for treating sleep apnea as the Resmed machines. I will try dropping my minimum pressure to see if that helps.
Thanks, Mark

After having to switch to my backup (Dreamstation 2) which does not seem to be helping me much, and the fact that my wife is using a Resmed machine I was thinking of maybe purchasing another Resmed machine to have as a backup for us. Because the price is so high on the Aircurve 10 VAuto I was thinking of maybe the Airsense 10 auto cpap. Would this machine come close to treating my sleep apnea like the Aircurve 10? It would be alot cheaper. Or does someone know where I could pick up a refurbised one for a good price.
Thanks, Mark

I am sorry. I cannot answer you question about the VAUTO or the Airsense. Hopefully someone with more experience and knowledge of these 2 machines can answer your question.
You can check the suppliers list here at apneaboard for cpap and bipap machines. Dotmed.com also sells them. Many, many more machines are on the market. Just do an internet search. New, used, refurbished.

Would the Resmed Autosense 10 Autoset work good as a backup to my Aircurve 10 VAuto? I would only use it if something happens to my Aircurve (which is still in the shop). I can get one on sale right which would be a lot cheaper than purchasing another Aircurve as a backup and sale this Dreamstation 2 because it just doesn't help me at all.

Take a look on Supplier #2 in the list of suppliers at the top of the site. They sell new and used. I and my son bought used ones that were excellent condition and price. If it for a backup you don’t need a brand new one. Also other sits like Craigslist.

The Resmed Airsense 10-11 Autoset works identically to the Resmed Aircurve 10 Vauto, with the exception that pressure support (EPR) is limited to 3 cm. If you can let us know what your settings were on the Vauto, I can translate those to the Autoset. Speaking of good timing, Supplier #1 has a coupon code that will get you a new Autoset for $499.00. (Offer ends 8/13/2023 at 11:59PM CST). If interested use code "Resmed23". Pretty hard to beat that deal. Quit punishing yourself with the Dreamstation. I stopped using Philips machines in 2014 and never looked back.
Edit: Based on looking at a previous thread, your settings on the Vauto were: Min. EPAP 11.00, Max EPAP 15.00 and PS is 2.0 (13/11 to 17/15) This can be duplicated on an Autoset with minimum pressure 13.0, Maximum pressure 17.0, EPR Full-time at setting 2 (13/11 to 17/15).
