[Symptoms] Asthma like symptoms when using the mask

Asthma like symptoms when using the mask
Hello everyone,

I hope to get some kind of answer to this issue. As the topic says each time I use my nasal mask I feel the wheezing and pressure I feel with an asthma attack. I rarely have an attack and use my inhaler maybe 3 or 4 times a year. I was using my machine with no issues then about a week ago it started. I would put the mask on and feel like I was suffocating followed by my chest tightening. It's incredibly frustrating as I'm feeling exhausted again. I try using my inhaler before bed but that does nothing. It's mimicking the symptoms and as soon as the mask is off I'm fine again. Any suggestions? Maybe I have a respiratory infection? I plan on going to the doctor asap, but I'm on a work trip this week so that will have to wait.

Thanks in advance.

I would ask you to download the free program OSCAR to create sleep data charts from your CPAP. You can turn post the chart here as an attachment. It's likely your pressure setting is too low, I'm seeing your min pressure listed on your user panel says 5, indicting maybe this too low situation.

You will also need an SD card in the CPAP left side slot under the flap before sleeping to capture data.

When was the last time you changed your CPAP air filter?

Give the hoses, masks, everything a good wash and dry. Have you replaced the humidifier tank recently?

Have you changed the water supply you're using? Perhaps swap in a different brand of distilled water, and see if you get improvement?

Recently. But if I'm being honest I don't remember exactly when. I've done a lot of travel for work and the days kinda blur together. I'll change it out when I get back to be safe.

Your beginning pressure setting it too low.  Most adults feel air-starved at only 5.  I suggest that you raise that to 8 and see if you feel better. Smile
Machine:  ResMed AirCurve 10 Vauto
