The "Henry Waxman" look - an issue with nasal pillows?
Okay folks, I've been wearing my ResMed Mirage Swift II nasal pillows system for a long time now...
Yesterday, I looked in the mirror and it sure looks to me like my nostrils had grown a size or two. It kind of freaked me out.... but I thought it would go away during the day. Problem: it didn't.
Last night I used my standard nasal mask which has no nostril-enlarging devices on it at all. This morning... the large nose-holes didn't go away.
Now, I am deathly afraid that I have what might be lovingly-called the " Henry Waxman Syndrome". Mr. Waxman is a U.S. Congressman who is known for his distinctively large nostrils. [see slightly enhanced photo, below]
Have I permanently disfigured myself here, or will my nose-holes shrink back to normal size with enough time??
Waxman: "Mr. Speaker, today I'm proposing legislation
to outlaw evil, nostril-enlarging nasal pillows devices"
My question: Am I doomed to a life of large nose-holes now?

I must admit, I have wondered the same thing but not the extreme of the Henry Waxman look! What I find with my Swift FX Mask is that it lifts my cheeks under my eyes and I look 10 years older in the morning which lasts for a little while after. Guess I can't think of an example to compare with like you did! Feel free to throw one out there and I'll deny or confirm, lol. Maybe we can go with the Small Nasal pillows and just increase the hole size???

I can handle people staring at my nose because the wrinkles seem to take away from my nostrils but its hard going out in public because everyone tries to pet me!

I've not noticed any enlarging of mine. I have a very small nose so maybe that's the difference.

I think its the anticipation of the smells of roast turkey, cornbread stuffing, and pumpkin pie. Happy Holidays.

Oh darn it all. Until now I found nasal pillows merely uncomfortable. Now I'll never look at them again. Never heard of the guy before but yikes! Like I may be no beauty queen myself but stand back if he sneezes!

I've seen that nose before. It was on the Twilight Zone!

Think about those people who stretch parts of their bodies such as their ears or their lips by inserting different types of rings and other such ornamentation. If that can cause permanent deformation I'm sure nasal pillows can do the same. Personally, I don't care. I'll trade a huge pig nose for a good night's sleep.
P.S. Has anyone had to increase their nasal pillow size after a while?

They've found a cure for Henry Waxman Syndrome but it's worse than the problem, and you'll need to switch to a different mask.
