Therapy and Teeth

Hi peeps, just wondering if there was any info available on studies with cpap therapy and any dangers to the teeth..if any. Not sure if it's a co incidence or just age but I have noticed since being on cpap I am getting gaps between my teeth.

Hi, Look up my earlier post about 'It may be time to see a lawyer' despite some 'flippant' remarks, it will give you an insight into 'Smashed Face Syndrome' or 'Bashed Face Syndrome' as it is called. It has been discussed in depth on some sites going back to 2006 (I think). My Sleep nurse 'Hinted' that receeding chins are not a pre-requisite for sleep apnoea and may appear afterwards. This started my research into this unusual 'Side Effect'
My original article is quite well researched and contains information to find the original medical study, please let me know how you get on?

Interestingly many of the links that come up in relation to 'teeth' are about outwardly displaced teeth and increased gaps between teeth of people using nasal masks and nasal pillows. The mechanism postulated is that people put outward pressure on their teeth with their tongue in an effort to prevent mouth leaks. This theory also says that the orthodontic issue does not occur with full face masks.

I really don't know but I got the feeling the the hybrid mask I was using was causing pressure on my jaw joint....

For my money though is is a case of the lesser of two evils...

Don' know of any studies (did you google or search?) but my fitlife total face mask puts pressure on my bottom teeth and they are becoming crooked. Don't know what I'll do about it yet.
