RE: advice on setting up an auto-bipap
I may be doing something wrong, but I set the numbers as suggested:
Min EPAP = 10 = your old min pressure setting
Max IPAP = 17 = your fixed IPAP pressure
Max PS = 4 = the difference between your fixed IPAP and EPAP settings.
Min PS = 2 = a wild guess on my part
and got these results according to Sleepyhead
EPAP min 10 and max 15, with med of 10 and 95% of 14.80
IPAP min 12 and max 17 with med of 12.5 and 95% of 16.8
PS min 2 and max 4 and med of 2 and 95% of 4
Is this in fact correct as you'd expect? AHI is down to 1.69 but this is one night's results.
thanks again for all your help.

Those numbers make perfect sense given the settings and the fact that you had been titrated at 17/13.
If allowing the EPAP to go to almost 15 is causing problems with air in your stomach, you could bump the min PS = 3. Chances are that won't increase the AHI

That's good news. Let's hope the AHI stays low.
RE: advice on setting up an auto-bipap
Question. I have a 750P Respironics. I get my best AHI with fixed PS, and worst with variable. I don't know what to change to toggle? Please?

Hmmm... How were you able to determine that you get a better AHI with a fixed PS if you don't know how to set the machine at a fixed PS?
I don't know, either, but I would guess that you just set the min PS and the max PS at the same value. Perhaps someone will come along and tell us for sure.

RE: advice on setting up an auto-bipap
Right, that would be logical. But mine is an early 750P and does not allow the setting of minimum and maximum PS. Max only, and the lowest setting is 3. I only see the difference in the Sleepyhead data. Thanks!

What is it that you see? There's some particular value of the PS that gives you the lowest AHI?

RE: advice on setting up an auto-bipap
Thanks. I note that sometimes the Sleepyhead Machine Settings shows variable PS and at other times fixed PS while in auto mode. While my profile shows a Resmed Airsense 10, I have had such bad luck with it (don't know exactly why) I thought I would go back to my 2009 Repironics 750 bipap to do a bit of titration. My best numbers seem to come on that machine with äuto bipap and FIXED PS. I don't know how you can have a FIXED PS on this machine unless the setting of minimum and maximum EPAP are the same, which of course is not possible on my machine.
