new to vpap
I have been using a vpap a very short time now but need to know if some of my experiences are normal. First is that even though I use the humidifier, I wake up with super thick snot that is sometimes bloody. Should I just turn the humidifier up? I didn't have this problem when using a Bipap for about 5 months before getting this vpap machine.
Second is that I will take my pulse-ox sometimes through the night and it's down in the 70's, which we all know is not good. It works its ways back up slowly, but worries me. My mom has checked it on occasion while I'm sound asleep and it's in the lower 90's. Anybody else had theirs drop like that? My doc didn't seemed concerned, almost annoyed by questioning in fact. ???

I am brand new also, there are some great people on this site that will help you. If I was having those problems and my doctor didn't think it was bad, I would probably try another doctor, oxi level in the 70's cant be good. Good luck

The VPAP is ResMed's version of the Philips BiPAP. They both intend to accomplish the same thing. I would say the first thing that you should try is increase the setting on the humidifier.

VPAP is ResMed's trade name for BiLevel. So, one can conclude you are using a ResMed machine.
Question: Is it an S8 or S9. The model name is just above the power button on the S9.
It may say VPAP Auto or VPAP S or ????
The control of the humidifier depends upon the type of hose you are using: Climateline or regular.
And, how the humidifier control has been setup by the provider.
What type of pulse oximeter are you using? Does it record? Or, are you just doing spot checks.
Some are not very accurate.
Frankly, too little information to offer any suggestions.

Hi mmhoss13m, welcome to the forum
Right next to its on/off button your machine will probably show its model name, such as VPAP S or VPAP Auto or VPAP ST or VPAP ST-A or VPAP Adapt.
At the top right of all forum pages is a "My Profile" link to our profile, so we can easily update it with our machine's model name.
You should ask for copies of your sleep reports (the full reports, including all data!) and of your prescription. You have a right to have copies of these, for your own records. Also, when traveling you may need to show it to airlines to get the machine exempted from your normal baggage limit, or to get a mask or hose or other part if something breaks while traveling. There is also very good information in the reports that you would benefit from reviewing or al least having access to.
