New User - Large leaks and pressure settings
I have used APAP for only 8 nights, and I have Oscar Data for the last three. I didn't expect everything to be perfect right away (or even close!) but if someone here has any insights to help me, I would appreciate it.
I did a home Watch-PAT study and subsequently purchased my equipment (no insurance company involved.) I was given the typical recommendation of APAP pressure 4-20. I left my machine on this default factory setting for only three nights, and then started making adjustments. The lower setting of 4 leaves me feeling like I am starving for air, so I that on 7 now, which doesn't bother me at all. I have been trying to find a good max setting. When the range was 4-20, I would sometimes wake up and the pressure would be 16-18 and air would be rushing out of the sides of my mask. I would restart the machine, which then took it back to 4 for a long time, which did not seem adequate. I have the minimum on 7 now, no Ramp, which seems to be fine. The problem I have had for the last two nights is large leaks, waking up with the air rushing out of the edges of the mask. The pressure is increased during these times. Are the leaks caused by the increased pressure, and maybe I need to dial the max back, or is the increased pressure caused by the leaks? There are more events during these times.
I am very grateful for this board, as I have been able to find answers to many of my questions just by searching the posts.
Thanks!
