But lately even after I take it off the air keeps blowing out of the mask so I have to shut it off manually on the device. Anyone experienced something like this and if something is wrong or what I can do?

Mask continue to blow after taking it off?
I have an Resmed Airsense 10 with a nasal pillow mask and I remember that when I started using it the air blowing would stop after I took the mask of for a few seconds. Not sure exactly how long, perhaps 5-10 seconds after I took it off it would automatically shut off the air blowing which was convenient when going up at night to pee etc.
But lately even after I take it off the air keeps blowing out of the mask so I have to shut it off manually on the device. Anyone experienced something like this and if something is wrong or what I can do?
RE: Mask continue to blow after taking it off?
the option is called smartstart and it's under "more options". on the 10 smartstart both starts the device when you breathe in and stops it if you take off the mask which can be an issue i think.
from the manual:

I have the same machine as you do. It sits atop a file cabinet on my side of the bed. It's the same height as our mattress.
When I need to go visit the restroom, I simply reach over to the machine and hit the power bar. It turns the air off immediately. When I return to bed, I reconnect the hose to my mask and take a breath.

I too turn it off manually when I get up. I always have, not because I have had any problem, I just don't like to leave it running.
Machine: ResMed AirCurve 10 Vauto
Mask: Bleep DreamPort Sleep Solution

Also, if using the humidifier, there's a built-in cool down timer of I think 20 minutes when CPAP is turned off. Next time look for a snowflake symbol, and this signifies cool down is on.

When the maximum pressure is set to a low value, the instrument keeps pumping air after mask removal because the volume rate will not be high enough to trigger the large-leak shut-down process you experienced a while ago. This phenomenon is especially pronounced with masks with high flow resistance, like mine. After waking up, I use this feature to dry my mask and hose by blowing air for 5-10 minutes with an empty evaporation chamber of my decommissioned AirSense 10 unit, which I set to high hose temperature and high moisture. |
