Thinking of Taking a Break Until I Can Get Bilevel

RE: Thinking of Taking a Break Until I Can Get Bilevel
If you are sleeping poorly with your machine, take a break for a couple of days and see if you feel better or worse. Then decide whether to resume therapy or not until your new machine arrives.

I took a nap without it yesterday and when I woke up, my sinuses were burning. So last night I slept with it on and slept like crap again. Can't sleep with it, can't sleep without it. I am mess and feeling hopeless.

I see that you are using your machine in Cpap mode.  Maybe you would be more comfortable putting it in Apap mode and setting 8-14 for your pressure range.  It can't hurt to try, and maybe you will feel better.

I tried APAP for a while and I found that the pressure changes wake me up.  My profile wasn't updated.  I'm now on a fixed pressure of 18 until I can get the BIPAP because it's the highest pressure I can handle without getting bad aerophagia.

Idub88, i agree with Deborah K., why not try something else, APAP, EPR 3  etc.

And the reason i say this is thru personal experience, as follows.

Been doing CPAP for 35 yrs +

Since beginning of year felt terrible

Tried lots of settings, including those suggested on this board.

Here's what i did....

I began reading and doing breathing execises, mostly by Patrick McKeown from the internet.

I began thinking,  hey, if i can sleep with no CPAP, why not use CPAP, but with very low pressure?
Could it really be worse than no CPAP?

My prescription pressure has alway been between 6 and 7 cm .
And like others here, sometimes ok, sometimes not.

So i said, lets go for the lowest i can do

I went with 5 cm and even 4 cm

and i had like almost no events as well !!??

I felt great for those days, though i still was tired later in day, but i made it thru the night !!!

Try something like that.

And keep trying !

How is your sleep hygiene?
Do you get exercise?
Do you have a dry mouth after sleeping?

I found i had to BUST through days of fatigue and tiredness which came on later in the day, though i was fine when i woke up.

Keep going, you can do this.

Oh, and BTW, doing the breathing exercises, keeping my mouth closed ALL day and night, and even with exercise is what i believe and know is doing it for me.

Give it a shot !!??

That's what I'm saying. I've tried most of the settings and it's been determined that the bilevel will be what helps most. I try the breathing techniques and I while I have gotten better at them, I am still breathing mostly through my mouth when I sleep. I've tried mouth tape but chipmunk cheeks wake me up all night. I'm comfortable with the full face mask at this point.

Last night I had a bunch of CAs show up.  I know the AHI number is still technically good but I'm usually under 0.5.  Should I be concerned?
